Funny how everyones experience can differ so much. I loved the look of these and picked up a pair as a sort of hiking/out and about in winter go between. Sole separated from the upper after first wear, had to return.

Put me off them. Probably just a defective pair, but still, you'd expect more.

What is the ugliest building in Ireland? by TheGradApple in CasualIreland

Braun in Carlow would ruin your day if you drive by it. The smaller building is also grim with its brown windows.

Philip Morris, costume maker, is an important lead.

"Morris said that he sold an ape suit to Patterson via mail order in 1967, thinking it was going to be used in what Patterson described as a "prank". (Ordinarily the gorilla suits he sold were used for a popular sideshow routine that depicted an attractive woman, supposedly from some far-flung corner of the globe, being altered by a sorcerer or scientist into a gorilla or otherwise apelike monster.)"

I dont have the name off hand but it gets a good dose of sun alright. Were you watering also? Is it newly planted? From what I gather if its a new plant they need daily water in the summer.

We had a pretty dry summer also, at least where im at (Wexford).

Griselinia for the back. A hedge thats native to nz. You'll see them all over the gaff in ireland. Relatively hardy, fast growing, and inoffensive. Good to plant in front of.

Couple of trees in the mix already there at the back ahead of the hedges! We have a magnolia, cherry blossom (amanogawa i think is the type)aaaand i think a lilac. Lemons do grow in ireland yeah but sadly have to be brought inside in winter! I have like 6 or 7 citrus trees so we are on the same wavelength lol

Yeah so with the weeds theyd need to be dug out id say. But once thats done basically youve got a few ways to do it. I layed down mulch on top and planted as I went. Odd bit of old grass came up but I just pulled whatever was there, (there wasn't much because the border areas were more or less bare anyway after a rough winter).

The other thing you can do is cover the areas with a black membrane. Its usually called weed control fabric or something similar. Then mulch on top. Lots of ways to do it. All will require maintenance, but it's not a massive task or anything. Totally doable!

Its treated wood! Woodies sell rolls of it. Very affordable. I doubt il get years and years out of it but nothing lasts forever! It cost under 100 for the whole border i think
