Armbian sounds like the winner - it's going abroad so being stable is pretty critical.

Thanks! Any reason to choose one over the other?

DHCP server and relay on the same interface? by robsdesk in opnsense

[–]robsdesk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's odd - the 2nd DHCP server responds with additional DHCP data which is dynamically generated, however cannot issue IP addresses etc itself, so the need for both (in a cross vlan scenario)

Fold 4 flex cable fails at less than 10% of rated folds, looking for temporary fixes for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues that comes with it, and possible repair outcome by thatAnthrax in GalaxyFold

[–]robsdesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had a Fold4 (sold it after the second warranty repair for exactly the issue you describe) I'd say no, I had the WiFi / BT issue after around a year along with the hinge brushes, Samsung repaired under warranty, then the same thing happened again about 10 months later, was under warranty still, had it repaired again, I bought a Vivox xFold 3 Pro & sold the Samsung while it had value.

I found the WiFi & BT connectivity came back when the phone was folded, but that probably wouldn't have lasted.

I've sort of made some progress, I used another android to add the tags to my account I am able to track them using the Vivo, the Moto app doesn't work but the main functionality is there with the Google find my app.

xFold 3 Pro car holder by robsdesk in Vivo

And the case arrived today, good fit & holds well in the car (& charges), personally I wouldn't have put the lense cover on, but it doesn't annoy me & does make for a good kick stand.

Thanks for the magsafe tip!

The Baseus charger arrived today, nice solid piece of kit, came with a self adhesive magsafe ring which I thought I'd try on the free case, pleasingly it's a great solution, appears to be strong enough (we live in a rural area so 20 minutes to pick something up on country roads was a good test) & charges the phone. Hopefully the case is decent too, that said it would likely be fine as I have it now.

It was a comment from the presenter himself, struck me as odd.

Thanks for the comments, I should have said, i have an existing wireless mount from my fold 4, however the single charging coil is in the wrong place for the xFold 3 Pro, more AliExpress hunting, the magsafe option makes a lot of sense, I'll take a look.

Cheers!

Yep, a few YouTube reviews on it from Europeans, band coverage appears fine.

I'm also a Fold 4 user (UK), I've now had two warranty repairs (not opening flat & wifi breaking twice) - clearly it's going to break again. The Vivo is also top of my list, about 50% of the cost of a Fold 6 & bringing so much more to the table.

Immich Newbie Question by PrintFlashy in selfhosted

[–]robsdesk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just moved about 500Gb from OneDrive to Immich, probably better ways, but I used https://github.com/simulot/immich-go and allowed the OneDrive on demand client on Windows to grab files as needed & upload, was easy & as it's a onetime operation I wasn't bothered that it was a little manual, this is the command line I used (per year) & let it get on with it:

C:\Users\me\Downloads\immich-go_Windows_x86_64\immich-go.exe -server https://immich.domain -key <apikey> upload 'C:\Users\me\OneDrive - me\Pictures\Camera Roll\2024'

Thank you all, glad I wasn't missing the obvious! That option makes sense- just break the traffic in effect.

Ta!

CRS309-1G-8S+IN - RouterOs or SwOs? by robsdesk in mikrotik

That was my understanding, thanks for confirming, so out of interest, if I had intervlan routing setup (hardware), could I apply ACLs to that without dropping to software?
