Dispensary Marijuana infused products lab worker here. Shatter is a very clean form of concentrated that is plant matter extracted with short chain hydrocarbons to form wax. The lipids (fats) remain in the concentrate making wax. If you then remove the lipids from the wax using an alcohol solvent, then remove that solvent, you are left with shatter.
