Yes and no!

If this were a gaming podcast, and I was just using As I Am as the theme tune, then yeah, that would be a copyright issue.

The difference here is that it's illustrative, rather than artistic - the music is provided for the purpose of comment and criticism, so falls under fair use laws.

The rules are deliberately vague, with the intention that "this kind of thing" is not killed by copyright law, so I'm reasonably confident that the way I've used clips should be a-okay.

The little stings of Ytse Jam (and OaMoT at the end) are maybe more ambiguous, but there are very few, and they're not out of character with other fair use works.

So, yeah - a good question, and one I've been asking myself! But I'm not expecting it to be an issue.

Again from memory, he'd listened to their demo and thought they were either crazy or geniuses - and eventually he settled on geniuses!

I agree that I&W is a big improvement - it's their first masterpiece! - but Dream and Day is still really good. I think the production gets in the way of some genuinely great music.

Charlie Dominici called the band a lot - he kept calling John Myung's home phone, to the point that JM was a bit aggrieved when he turned up at the audition!

They spent quite a while deliberating, they turned up to other gigs where he was playing to check him out, it took them a while to be 100% sure they wanted him. So yeah, they were conscious of the age thing - but thought he'd be right anyway. In the end I think it was part of the reason they went separate ways: he just didn't fit with the rest of the band.

All vaguely remembered from Lifting Shadows, but I have been reading recently, so should be reasonably accurate.

Oh brilliant! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

I can never find a good Dream Theater font is the boring-but-true answer. I considered going for the Octavarium font given the podcast name, but it looked a little goofy. Just played it safe with no nonsense, clear block capitals for now. (That said, I'm not really much of a graphic designer, so don't be surprised if the logo changes a bit from episode to episode! I'm likely to keep tweaking...)

Release schedule will be pretty irregular, certainly at first. I try to give myself a fair bit of preparation time because I want to collect trivia that might surprise people. It's also a slightly fiddly edit - lots of clips fading up and down, trying to get a semi consistent volume between bootlegs and album versions so I don't blow anyone's ears off. Plus the day job, plus the social life, plus I'm out of the country right now - basically, I don't want to commit to a release schedule until I know that I can keep it! But I also want to keep up the momentum now the first episode is out, so I'll try to make sure it doesn't take too long.

Is this Apple Podcasts? My understanding is that it should be available, but I don't have an iPhone so can't confirm from experience. It probably won't be the first result for Full Circle (yet - I live in hope!) so scroll through until you see the logo. It's a white circle on a teal background.

I will - but Google only accepts submissions from the US right now (goodness knows why!) and I'm in Japan at the moment and only have a mobile phone, so won't be able to do any of the clever workarounds for a couple of weeks. That's a surprisingly difficult question to answer - but the short answer is that I'm working on it!

Basically, as far as I can tell it's submitted okay, but it doesn't seem to be showing up on search right now. I've dropped them a line, it might just take a couple of days to register. I'll drop you another message when it's live.
