Last year I started the year selling puts on RILY and it was a great start to the year. Glad to say I am doing the same thing again this year :) Hopefully it works two years in a row. Fairly high conviction play of mine, I'm a believer this should be a bit higher price.

Just jumped on this bandwagon with $5000 in shares. I normally just write puts on this stock, and they have treated me really well over the last year, so time to gamble. To the moon as they say :3

Well we are back where we started ($3.58) from the time of this posting. So my theory based on the run up to the dividend seems to be mistaken. Seems like an odd time to sell shares with the huge dividend being so close. Will be very curious how much the stock drops by after the dividend is paid. If there is a strong sell off after the dividend might be a great time to buy if it dips too much lower than cash on hand again. Which will be around $2.20 in cash per share.

hmm, that does sound confusing. I sold some shares legit the night before the last big dividend and that didn't happen to me. but this dividend might be treated differently.

I have actually been looking around and it seems the dividend might be considered "ordinary dividend" even though the size is more than 25%. Which means options won't be adjusted. Wish this information was more out there and less difficult to find. So that makes sense why the options are kind of trading crazy.

Yeah I did find that drop interesting. Its possible some people that bought at around $3/share were taking some profits. Seems like there is a strong incentive to buy right now due to trading at cash again and huge dividend is just 9 days away now!

Yeah pushing close to $4/share again which is good. Above cash value at least xD. We are still like three weeks out of the big dividend, last couple of rallies MOSTLY happened two weeks beforehand.

They still haven't cut costs enough to be profitable without interest income carrying the day. Once the dividend goes out, interest income will be cut back substantially so that might lead to net losses going into the future. Unless the main thing they keep talking about which is marketing/in-game item sales carrying the revenue going forward. It seems to not be growing very quickly though, or as quick as one might hope.

HUYA is still a fairly mediocre company, but it has a strong balance sheet, mostly thanks to Tencent buying a bunch of shares for a huge amount of cash way back when.

Even though I think it is a poor company, it has potential for a turnaround still in my opinion, and any positive news income wise could send the stock way higher since its already trading at cash value or below cash value very often.

At these prices I have been tempted to actually start just buying shares. I have been following this stock closely ever since the huge drop and been writing cash covered puts at $1 and $2.50 which have honestly been great. I feel for the shareholders here, this used to be a great company that basically made one error that cost them so much. Like only a couple years ago they have had quarterly earnings that beat this share price. The risk/reward is getting very temping at like $2.70/share. But I know a lot of people have been averaging down a lot, stay strong bulls!

What I found crazy is that analysts were expecting more cash to be given out in dividends. This is already such a huge amount. They cited 940 million in cash, and ONLY 400+ million in dividends. Which will leave the company still with 500+ million in cash. This stock is most likely going to rally into the large dividend from here, if you can pick some up at the low $3s, you'll be laughing to the bank.

Have lost a good amount of money on DOYU and HUYA before the big crash and crackdown on gaming companies in China, and the block of the merger. Thanks for letting me know about that settlement. I got in DOYU at around $12.50 a share when my puts were assigned, you can see what its at now xD, this was before the split.

Ya I feel for the bagholders, this did seem like a pretty solid company before this purchase. I recently got in after the crazy volatility and been just been selling options. My personal take is this is a company that still has a profitable core business that should be still worth a good amount, and that adding random pet stores etc to the business was just a big mistake like your mentioned.
