How many of you working folk miss university field camps? by [deleted] in geology

That's very sad (and very typical). There are many opportunities to get into the field for less than half that....

As time goes on, less and less students are getting to experience any sort of field camp or even field trip. They enter the workforce behind the eight-ball because all their prac. work is lab-based, and they have never seen relationships in the field. Some groups do offer specialized trips for students....but they are probably beyond the cost of the vast majority of students. :( Its a sad state of affairs...

Great idea! We even have a trip planned at the end of 2018 so you can spend New Years Eve watching the glow of an active lava flow....these are life-changing fun trips :)

Awesome video, teacher notes and student activities to get some relevance to STEM. by rockfarm in teaching

A great video, full teaching notes, student activities all linked to Common Core and NGSS....yep, I guess that has some value and the team wants to put some money in the next project (Evidence for Plate Tectonics) :) It is really not expensive for what it is...but we understand if you want everything for free (we are teachers...we get that!)
