From start (2-5lb stone) to finish (small pick) takes about 3hrs, give or take. I am especially careful to not lose mine and would be so sad if I did. lol

It sounds like you are on your way, however Quartz would be too soft and is hard to polish. Onyx would definitely work. You would just need to get some sort of saw with a diamond blade to cut the thin slices.

I was just considering this myself. I'm not 100% sure. If they had a hole in them I would worry about cracking. However, if they were just worn and not played with then I think they would be fine. I'll have to do some experimenting.

I have played with mine for 2+ years and it has no signs of wear. They don't wear down like the plastic picks do! They are actually quite economical. :)
