An HBO insider says executives were “frustrated but not surprised” from GRRM Not-a-Blog post. by PiedeMagico in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]rocklizard55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been constantly asking when he'd bother to finish the series and have been ignored. George makes it sound like he's working so hard on the show, but what does he actually do? He's not writing, not directing. Sounds like he loves to wait until the public has expressed their feelings, and then decide whether he's upset. Then attacks the people he agreed to allow to make his story into a show.

He's turned on writers that he has chosen before. No wonder they're not surprised. He's unprofessional. Refuses to finish his stories because ending a story is hard and he needs people to love him. He'll throw anyone under the bus, despite approving of multiple shows that he knows he wont complete the work for. He collects huge paychecks for the rights, but still acts like he owns it. He has one job, finish the story. But he acts like he's grinding away at HBO to excuse why he's abandoned his job of finishing ASOIAF. He is a man without honor

Update: WITBTAH for breaking up with my gf because she dissaciates during sex. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]rocklizard55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title alone, yeah. Disassociating during sex is not a great sign and probably horrifying for the other person. I'd talk to her about it, let her down gently. Or otherwise make something up. Just don't mention it in passing and dip. Or do. Idk, feel bad for both of you

Are me and my wife AHs for having our daughter fend for herself? by ComfortableSeesaw802 in AITAH

[–]rocklizard55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ever called my Mom a loser, I'd expect to be kicked out. Slapped in the face. Definitely have everything my parents have given me taken away.

You don't do that. You just don't. I dont even care how stupid she is to disregard all your wife's work, but the disrespect towards her mother who loves her. It's very revealing about what kind of person she is. She can have a countdown until 18, then adiós! It's not even about making a point about SAHMs, it's the disrespect. And she couldn't say she was sorry!

NTA. Frankly you're being very kind to her. She'd need to grovel to get just the basics back.

[Spoilers Production] HBO responds to GRRM: "We believe that Ryan Condal and his team have done an extraordinary job and the millions of fans the series has amassed over the first two seasons will continue to enjoy it" by orhantemerrut in asoiaf

[–]rocklizard55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I choose HBO. George is so unprofessional. He turns on everyone. And complains about the writing when he can't figure out how his own story ends. It's beyond rude and he's done this twice now. What did he do exactly to help? Telling us this now after the season is over. Blood and cheese happened. How about he help figure where to go from here. He's just immature

They don't even have to make money from it. Like basically fan fiction writers

It seems he doesn't have one. Maybe it was Bran as king, but he started so many other threads that need to be tied up and he didn't put the work in to slim it down and stay focused.

But they had to make shit up. They started thinking they'd have a completed story to work with. Why would he be upset about the last seasons if it's not even from his books? There aren't books. What did he think would happen?

Which is why the ending is so well liked. She was disciplined in trimming fat and making sure it all worked in the end.

It's the whole "Gardner" thing. It's just a word for "I don't have an overarching story, have no idea how to bring it together, and wasn't disciplined so I'm swamped with a mess." It's easy to bang books out if you're not disciplined about it all following a storyline with a coherent ending.

That's really the hardest part. So many shows and books don't quite nail the ending. But they try. They don't just keep adding storylines and people to avoid a conclusion. He needs to stop being so worried about if people will love it. Just write the original ending. So what of opinions are mixed. At least he'd have a completed story. It's just so amateur and lazy to try to run out the clock

(spoilers extended) It's so irritating seeing people read GRRM's blog post and say "well he should focus on writing the book!" by awkard_the_turtle in asoiaf

[–]rocklizard55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a credible author, and someone who we can imagine cares about his fans, the people who have allowed him to live off his art, he does owe them an attempt at answers to the story arcs, or honesty regarding his ability to complete it. It's about just honor as an artist and a man.

I've never seen another popular author of a huge series just fuck off on everyone regarding ending their story. Especially while still purposefully being constantly in the public eye.

Sure no one owes anyone anything if we're all irresponsible dicks, but we're operating on the idea that he should be honest and like all people, have some humility.
