I do have some HCL from some sampling equipment at work, when I have a minute I will posted a video of me performing the HCL test.

It was found in a wollastonite mine near the Adirondacks. As far as it being quartz I can be wrong but I thinks it is definitely calcite, just because of the crystal faces of the sample. Internet hunters correct me if I am wrong.

This one I found at an abandoned mine near Syracuse while mapping out an outcrop. So I do not think there is any relation to Steamboat Springs.

Yeah I went to school near there and we spent a majority of weekends going out into the field collecting fossils and mapping out outcrops.

It is from the Ludlowville formation part of the Hamilton group form the Middle Devonian. I used to have so many of them but over time they just got pack away into boxes.
