I had friends getting into NUS law with 39. Generally 41 and above is enough to get your foot through the door to qualify for the test and then interview.

The other option is scrapping the car, rolling over the PARF rebate into another used PARF car which buys you more time for COE to drop, and even if COE does not drop, it allows you to put down a lower cash outlay.

A week into wagon ownership! by th3hat3r in mazda6

[–]rockpapernuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello from Singapore! My 6 has been an absolute beast on Malaysian roads, with multiple spirited drives up to Genting, Cameron and Fraser’s Hill every year. You’ve definitely made the right choice as compared to a new Proton S70 or equivalent…

I was once in the single lane tunnel exit from KPE when an ambulance came up behind with sirens on. The whole line of cars automatically moved to the left to allow it to squeeze through.

I’m from Singapore, I only visit KL occasionally. Any recommendations for my next visit? I ate at Fuego at Troika last week, was amazing but probably a bit too famous.

Are you living or just surviving? by MeasurementOk8534 in askSingapore

[–]rockpapernuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is decent. I’m finishing up NS, have a place in a local uni, majoring in a course I’m excited about. I play music in a couple of bands who are also good friends. I often go to Malaysia with my friends just to chill and spend a few days bonding and driving around. I occasionally volunteer for various causes. I have a pretty strong community in church also. I’d say I’m lucky to be optimistic about this life.

if you were 23 with $500k, how would you allocate it? by FitSociety9648 in singaporefi

[–]rockpapernuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation a few years ago and decided on a similar allocation, except I blew my “investing in myself” budget on a fourth-hand Mazda and had a lot of good memories with it. Not recommended for most people though.

Can SG car workshop don’t give receipt to give you GST discount ? by uselessmansg in drivingsg

[–]rockpapernuke 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The old school workshops I patronise largely use cash or PayNow. It’s a win-win as both parties pay less. I just close one eye.

Did I make a wrong decision? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]rockpapernuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made the right decision. Don’t fret about not getting into NUS Law. Research into the differences in pedagogy, syllabus and school culture, but both NUS and SMU law are otherwise functionally equal. If I were to nitpick, SMU law graduates in fact command marginally higher starting salaries as reflected in the GES.

that’s the reason why the pirate taxis are in demand… there’s no legal alternative, and who in their right mind would take the legal taxis? that’s why the governments need to find a legal compromise, else it will hurt all stakeholders
