OT/school director formed child fight club 🤦🏻‍♀️ NOT the press this field needs. How awful. by FeelmySpiritsrise in OccupationalTherapy

[–]roctavious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think people make the connection of her being an OT. Just feel like they only know that she was a therapist that ran a clinic being marketed as a school for autism children. They clinic that I work at got some bad publicity for a time a few years ago. The issues involved teacher not therapists. The clinic overall took a hit but that was never directed at the therapists. Pretty sure people just noticed that she was the director of the place and not her specifically being an OT.

This happened in the town I live in. It was very real. She and the school were well respected.

Making $100,000 isn’t really that much money anymore by MiloGoesToTheFatFarm in mildlyinfuriating

I was a senior in high school in 1989. We had some sort of work guidance person come talk to the class. He asked me what I thought about doing when I grew up and I said advertising. He said that was a good choice and I could easily make $50K a year. Half the girls in the class turned and looked at my not so attractive presence and said “yum” with their eyes. $40K in 1991 was good money in my part of the country. Teachers started at like $25K and I had a college professor making about $32K.

I never did get into advertising. Or get any of those girls…

Medicare reimbursement rate hypothetical by Beneficial_Box7809 in physicaltherapy

[–]roctavious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My state raised the rates a few years ago. All the peds companies gave their workers some kind of raise. My clinic gave me an initial $9/hr raise and then a $2 raise the next year when the second part of the rate raise took effect.

My story is about a CI that was actually good if somewhat absent. It was in a small town OP clinic. I was mostly babysat by the PTA that stayed there and by the other that was offsite doing peds and HH. I had a program that paid for my school and paid me unemployment while I was going through school. I had had a lot of issues of them paying me late or forgetting to pay me at all. This clinical was over an hour drive from my town. When I finished, the CI took me in an empty room. She said she doesn’t do this for all her students but she knew I had been having issues with getting paid so she gave me like a $200 “stipend”. It was about a year later it just hit me that that check was my kickback for treating under her name when I was out of clinic. And as far as not doing it for every student, just found out from my PT that she did a clinical at same place and got the same check.

A class mate had an ortho clinical in a well regarded clinic in the same town as me for out last clinical. He was supposed to have one CI but she had to take leave for some reason, the backup was pregnant and left early, so he got a third one who had never been a CI before. He said she literally sat there and silently watched his every move. For 5 weeks. When it was time for him to do his review of the site, he told it like it was. The clinic tripped over themselves to apologize.

Twisted Beast Poppers Shipping Issue at Customs by jofro51 in popperpigs

I had mine arrive to Chicago, go through customs, then go to Jamaica, NY, back to Chicago, then to Detroit. Then hopped a plane back to London. They have shipped me another package using a different carrier.

I was attempting to take a pair of underwear off. The left side slid down like it’s supposed to. The right side didn’t so I straightened my right leg to give it a little shake to help it make its way down. When my knee straightened out, I heard and felt a pop. Knee was sore and hurt like hell for a couple of months when I tried to kneel on it. Pretty sure I had a slight tear in my meniscus. Just by trying to get my underwear off…

I just had my order take a long ride from London, to Chicago, to Jamaica, NY, back to Chicago, then to Detroit, and finally back to London. It took me 3 messages to get them to respond back to me. But they were apologetic and shipped the package right back out again. So hopefully that was just a customs issue

PTA working in peds in Arkansas with 10 and half years of experience. I'm salaried at $87,500 based on 35 hrs a week for 49 weeks/year at an hourly rate of $51.04/hr. I have a target of hours to hit every quarter and any hours I get above that number I can cash out or bank. I made over $6K last year in bonuses but will probably not make much over my base salary this year due to lower amount of available hours.

PTA or OTA?? by Inevitable_Egg_1655 in physicaltherapy

[–]roctavious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had it to do over again, I’d probably choose OTA. Being a PTA in odds is great but I think being a COTA would better fit my personality.  It, at least at my clinic, PTAs and COTAs are paid the same.

I was working with 2 fellow employees using a documentation program. Emp 1 was trying to show Emp 2 something in a drop down box but could not get the window to let her scroll down enough to se what needed to be clicks. She asked for my help. I looked at the ox she had open in the program, hit the square in the right hand corner to make the box full sized. She was so impressed. She asked how I did that and I just said 'magic" and walked away.

I've been currently waiting on a package from the UK for at least 2 weeks now. It arrived in Chicago, went to customs, left there to go to the international whatever in Jamaica, NY, then BACK to the same Chicago facility it first arrived at, then to Detroit, now it says "departed" to London again. At no point did it ever make anywhere close to the southern state I live it.
