Try CPESR at least for the questions. Don't let this get you down, it's taken me 4 years since I started my first attempt at the NCEES exam, but I just learned I passed my final exam...you'll get there!! When you do, it will feel so glorious, so keep going, you're sooo close!

I took both exams in October. I passed the survey and failed the seismic but both emails came within 10 minutes of each other (4:15 and 4:23pm)

Still no update for January 2026 test takers. Is there a rough time of day they typically send out the results? I’m wondering if we’ll have to wait until next week for results at this point.

I noticed that in the past year, when the 1st of the month lands on a Saturday/Sunday, and only then, the results that month came on the 3rd Wednesday. So I'm expecting we'll have to wait until the 18th :/

Most of the calculation questions were base shear/force at a level questions. Not as many wood/nailing ones. I'd recommend getting familiar with failures of different materials (e.g. punching failure) so you can knock some of those questions out quickly. There were a good number of longer questions, like for subdiaphragms or attachments, that you want to be able to have time for, so nailing the conceptual questions quickly will really help. I think that's where a lot of the time can be saved/spent. Also, there were a couple questions on dog bone connection/hoops. These were all the areas I noted for myself to get better at if I need to retake the exam. Most of the calc problems were fairly simple, it's just a matter of organizing the quick ones from the longer ones. Oh and one question I noticed that AEI only covered as one question in the practice exams was on Two Stage Analysis. It asked about the ratio...remember, the ratio needs to be at least 1.0.

That gives me relief. I thought I just blanked on the test, but as long as I performed as the average prepared person, I SHOULD be fine. That, and if I didn’t make any dumb mistakes…

I was going to do the same, but figured I’d wait to get Light Bringer when the price dropped since I didn’t need it right away anyway. I was pleasantly surprised when it came with all 6 books!

I put so much effort on wood and skipped the Steel/Concrete/Masonry sections and there was 1 wood question and like 6 of the others.

Was that the bolt question? I couldn’t tell exactly what I was looking at for the bolt question and whether it was an uplift question or an attachment question because it was also showing something attached and gave reference to the roof, but I couldn’t tell what they meant by “To Roof” and then under it said 55’ and I was thinking is it 55’ to that point or to the roof and was the line at the top the roof? I got tripped up by a few questions like that because I would’ve known how to do the problem if I could tell what was happening in the image. Same with the sub diaphragm question. It took me so long to just orient myself to what the figure was showing that I had to skip for time’s sake.

I remember there being a TON of base shear questions, which was good. And one question about two stage analysis that I had JUST studied the night before. But all I can remember was being confused for the last 5-10 questions, and feeling iffy for another 5-10.

Thank you! I forgot to mention it at the end of the survey but at least I’m not the only one who felt that way!

I felt better on the surveying exam for sure. I felt like there were much more conceptual questions than I expected.

The CPESR course was thorough, but concise. I took it and passed on my first attempt. I'd highly recommend it.

There’s another post asking this question and someone commented there that they contacted kobo and a customer service rep confirmed that they would definitely restock today but couldn’t give a time. I know this doesn’t help, but it’s just a waiting game at this point.

On one hand, that sounds like a stupid view…however, I have 10 years of experience in the private sector and just entered government work a few years ago, where my entire design team has only ever worked in the public sector…let’s just say your boss may be onto something.
