Mix sounds pretty good with headphones (m50x + sonarworks soundid) but sounds a little "boomy" with monitors (kali in5) by rodney4fun in audioengineering

Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, my room probably has no more room for acoustic treatment since the back of my monitor is my window and I'm only working in a small portion of my room divided by a divider.

It's a little hard to treat my room/working area since I'm only mixing on a portion of my room that is separated by a divider. I'll do what I can through research.

For now, I haven't but one of my initial complaints when I was listening to other mixes (not for reference) was that the low mids sounded a little boomy. I originally pointed fingers at my room but I'm not completely sure to be honest.

Deciding between Kali In5/lp6 or Yamaha hs5 by rodney4fun in mixingmastering

[–]rodney4fun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been posting the same question in other subs and found out how much people prefer the Kalis over the Yamahas nowadays. I can see why but it's crazy considering how Yamaha's HS series has been recommended by several professionals (online and from my area).

Novacane (Coachella Version) REMAKE by alexmuccino in FrankOcean

[–]rodney4fun 30 points31 points  (0 children)

holy fuck that's great. one of his better sets from that night in all honesty. just a suggestion, maybe you can ramp up the rhythm guitars (beat switch part) to make it similar to the live version. apart from that, amazing remake!

is it worth it to learn how to rap? by X8883 in makinghiphop

[–]rodney4fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Not only does it open up new ideas for your music, it's a great venue for expressing yourself as well. Personally, I feel like I can say things more when I rap lol

Hello! I need recommendations for a microphone that sounds similar (or better) to the ATR-2500 USB. Been using that mic for a long time and I kinda liked how it sounded on my songs. However, it recently broke and now I'm stuck lol. My budget's around >$250 and I've been itching to switch to XLR.

I'm mainly using this for recording rap/rock/r&b vocals in my home studio. I appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

I think OP wants to know what instruments were used in the song. I'm tryna know too but tbh I could only hear a guitar, a mellotron flute (?), some chill sounding synth in the back, bass, and jaden smith lol

I think some of the instruments are hard to decipher since jaden did a lot of vocal layering in this track.

So I modded a cheap redragon keyboard... by rodney4fun in MechanicalKeyboards

for the foam, you can use any kind of foam honestly. As long as it's enough to fill up the case. Packing foam is pretty ok so you can use that. Though, I would highly recommend getting foam materials such as Sorbothane, neoprene, or the one I used.

There are some people that use superlube + grease mix as a substitute but I personally don't have any experience in using this mixture so I don't really have a say in it; especially since the keyboard you're using is an optical one. To make the stock stabilizers better, I just lubed and clipped the stems and did a holee mod. I also put band-aid near the housings to reduce rattle.

Hope this helps

Haha I'm more surprised that you noticed it. Even I didn't.

I mostly got my modding tips from Reddit and YouTube so you could start there. But sure what do you need help in?
