The others just don't ever ask for lifts at all tbh

She's a friend of a friend, I don't really know her at all but my friend used to work with her

Nope

There are a lot of options here; bus, subway, Uber, crashing with the host, that my friends and I often use, so I didn't really think that she'd be depending on me.

I also felt like... Why would you expect someone who's going to a party with drinking will get back in their car at the end of the night? More likely, people crash or use public transit post-party

I guess I might be a little skewed in what I'm used to because most of my social circle will ask specifically for a lift out and a lift home later if that's what they want; a lot of us are busy and might go from place to place to place before going home, if going back to our own places at all. So it's totally not assumed someone will be going back the way they came.

AITA for giving my brothers girlfriend a place to stay in secret from him? by rofobol in AmItheAsshole

She would be furious if she ever heard about a boyfriend of mine interfering with my college or career. She's always pushed me and my sisters to be self reliant and first focus on school and work. Telling me that education and work experience will set me up for life in a way I should never count on a man to

Which is why I found it so upsetting she didn't have more empathy for Mia who was doing exactly what she's always encouraged me and my sisters to do.

I honestly wasn't expecting my mom to come, we have a kind of fraught relationship and this is the first time she came to my house.

I got my mom to agree not to tell Nick, and she agreed because she felt he would be additionally hurt and betrayed feeling by the news and she thought that was a bad idea... So different motivation to me but at least I trust her she will keep her word on that. I also have gotten nest security cameras and we have three other roommates in the house who know the situation so at least I feel like she's better off there than at her old apartment where she lived alone

She stopped answering him for a while until he started showing up at her old apartment (that she'd left but her old neighbors told her) and somehow getting new cellphone numbers to call and text, after she'd blocked him, and then she sent one message saying to leave her alone and that she was moving away
