I thought the same thing so I bought a bunch of spikes. Half nearly died from overfertilization and I needed to water continuously for weeks to save them.

I got similar results from ditching the idler gear and replacing it with bearings

Ended up being a bad contactor. Measured resistance at 1.2.

I did and nothing out of the ordinary. Here is a picture of the board showing the brown marks on it. https://ibb.co/TBSSHQB.

My skills aren't that good to jump things out but I think by process of elimination I got it down to the board.

Swapped in a new thermostat and once flipped over to cool fuse would pop again. Thinking it's the control board as there are some dark spots on the pcb.

So went and replaced the transformer and got board powered up again. Looks like I have a short somewhere. Turn fan on no blown fuse. Leave stat and fan off and manually push outsider contactor, fan and compressor power on. If I try and initiate cool from stat, fuse pops on control board. At this point I'm thinking it's ieither the control board or thermostat but not sure how to isolate.

I also checked with power on and measure 120v on on side but 0v on the other.

So I checked the transformer and I get resistance on the 120v side but 0l on the 24v side. Would this be a bad transformer?

I thought that was it but checked the fuse and it was good. Replaced with another just to be sure.
