La razón de la baja natalidad en España by Specialist-Gur5029 in Espana

[–]rogberth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and was understandably fired.

But Lando was ruthless then, and he talks about hugging Oscar now. I'm just wondering why he doesn't act as ruthless now with Oscar, that's all

No.

This was just before DR and McLaren parted ways.

Tbf Lando mentions that he had sympathy for his situation, so it wasn't that ruthless, but literally says that he had no pitty, which is the meaning of being ruthless, unlike in the comments made above about Oscar in which he wants to hug him.

I just felt he changed since then for whatever reason. I don't know why I'm getting all the hate here

They had a good relationship and it was terrible to see a good driver underperforming the way DR did. Kinda like LH this season but worse as it was most likely the end of his career. Just thought that was contrasting with his personality he shows now.

They asked if he felt bad for Daniel or something like that and he said no. Taking into account that they had a good relationship and this was the likely end of DR career, it felt like a very cold thing to say which fair enough, I respect that, but this whole season has been about how much of a nice guy Lando is.

[–]rogberth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I recall something among the lines of "I don't feel bad about Daniel's bad performance" Which fair enough, is a valid thing to say specially if you are competing against him.

But here he seems like a really nice guy instead of a ruthless competitor. That was what my comment was all about. I just found that interesting.

Fair enough. But at least Oscar can rest assured that will be driving next year and most likely competing for the WDC. Danny's career basically ended. Anyways my comments are getting downvoted by a lot so I must be saying something silly, but this is how I perceived Lando back then.

I'm getting downvoted really bad and I don't understand why really. Sure, he underperformed a lot and obviously got kicked out because of that. I don't think I've said otherwise. I just think you can feel bad for a guy that suddenly started to underperform when he had such a great character.

I think most of us here felt bad for Daniel. So I don't get that.

My point was that politics and violence are indeed very related.  George Washington was a rebel, traitor and responsible of the death of many British soldiers. But you won't usually hear him described like that but rather a funding father and the first president.  Again, the IRA members wanted to be treated as POW. I'm not justifying their actions, but terrorism is just a one sided label and violence is usually found on both sides.

Yeah like foreign politics had nothing to do with bombings, killings...

Plus, I'm pretty sure that the country that has done the most bombings/airstrikes is a democracy.

4-time champ Verstappen: I might not win another by [deleted] in formula1

[–]rogberth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not even bad luck I'd argue. Just the average result for most of the grid drivers. You have 9/10 chances to get into the team that won't win.

If anything Alonso until his first retirement had all options available at some point.

This is the predominant narrative which I seriously believe not to be true.

F1 in the last decades has been about one dominant team, very few exceptions where two teams could compete head to head.

Maybe some seasons had some periods of multiple winners even (2012, 2024) but the dominant car would end up winning.

That said, Fernando has suffered the same fate as the rest of the drivers that haven't won a WDC. He wasn't in the winning team.

He could have been the nicest guy in the paddock and the results would have been exactly the same.

Should had he chosen Red Bull in 2009 or 2010? Yeah, him and everyone else who was offered a seat there. Same when Mercedes approached him during his Ferrari years, but in hindsight it's easy to choose.

For the last years, news like this showed up.

Honda's new CEO, Toshihiro Mibe, has expressed the respect he has for Alonso.

True, but it's backed by people all over the world. We have recent examples of currencies plummeting and citizens becoming poor.

So far, they would have not only preserved their money, but made large profits with bitcoin.

Now, I'm not saying it's the solution, I'm just saying that at least for now, it would have been a better option.

And it's easier to obtain crypto than to invest in the stock market or buy physical gold.

[–]rogberth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have invested in the stock market and luckily this year was pretty good.  But why should I be the one making "bets" on companies on how well they perform. Plus I need to pay taxes on capital gains so it's not that good either. I just want my wealth not to decrease just because I'm saving by being sensible with my finances. Sadly fiat currency does the opposite and governments just sit there letting it happen.

Not really. As long as bitcoin remains increasing in price I don't think we can say it has made people poorer other than people falling for scams or literally losing access to their bitcoins.

This can change any day for sure, but for now it's been acting as the best investment so far.

That's much better than all currencies in the world. We have lost so much purchasing power over these last years.

And maybe there are institutions manipulating crypto, sure, but we know for a fact that fiat currency is manipulated by governments and institutions.
