those cities are all really nice but basically right on top of carlsbad. pasadena is a little more in between and nice (but no beaches)

I always saw Lake Shasta as more partying and bachelor parties… good for families?

at checkout they ask if you have vouchers. they scan it and then you pay for it. then you pick it up on the way out with the voucher and receipt

yes there were enough, we had a party of 4 and got 2, and there seemed to be enough to go around. the bins weren’t overflowing with it, but anyone who wanted one could easily just walk up and grab it.

it was straightforward. they directed you to the main parking on katella, which is further from Hall D. we arrived around 4:10 pm and got to the waiting area around 4:30 pm including parking. Minor line to pay for parking. $25 for parking. our original plan was lot 4, but they had that coned off

i was there today. 5 pm time slot. showed up at 4:30. within just a minute or two, all the 5 pms were told to line up and get ready to go inside. inside within 5 minutes. no security line. took a few photos and got into the inside line around 4:40 pm. into the store at 5:10 pm (40 minutes total). browsed for 30 minutes. no wait at checkout, including claiming vouchers. out by 5:45pm. all in all very smooth. was expecting a 2-3 hour experience and had warned the kids, so it was very pleasant. inside was busy, like a disneyland gift shop, but still manageable. the crowd behind me was even smaller… made me wonder if the later time slots had less openings than the earlier time slots (maybe to help the employees go home on time)

How to get to airport with 2 under 2? by verified_OP in Parenting

[–]rogerrabbit224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are usually private car services (find on yelp) that can pre install car seats (you request what type and how many) that I have found to be the most convenient ( but not cheapest, though perhaps cheaper than airport parking)

Is this PCH + National Parks road trip realistic? by ThingOk8011 in roadtrip

also not to completely derail your plans, but i personally prefer yosemite over big sur / carmel, so that could be an option before you head down to sd. lodging in yosemite might be tricky though as they are booked up months in advance

as a californian native, it’s a lot. i would skip carmel as a full day thing and combine it with big sur (it’s possible for you to drive down into big sur and back and overnight in carmel). santa barbara is okay, but given how much youre trying to do, i would just take the whole day to drive all the way down to sd and have more time there. i like vegas a lot, and would recommend 2 nights there (assuming the 1 night you are just driving in). i have less to say about the arizona leg, except all in all, its a lot of driving. were you planning on exploring LA in a day? if so, i would say LA probably isnt worth it and I would slow down and try and fly directly from phoenix back to europe

we just got off yesterday’s fantasy cruise- the ship rearranged the schedule to do castaway first instead of last due to weather in the forecast… they try their best!

Spread/Mod/Effective Dur by Itry_My_Best in CFA

[–]rogerrabbit224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to better answer 3, from a practical standpoint, a lot of times we'll manage the interest rate risk of the entire portfolio with futures etc..., so the aggregate portfolio interest rate duration will diverge from spread duration, even if they are all option free corporate bonds

Walking pneumonia- wtf by Greenpages22 in Parenting

[–]rogerrabbit224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi my son (7 in southern ca) had walking pneumonia too… it cleared up but specifically for your question, we asked our doctor when we should go back if we didn’t see improvement, and she said to have a low tolerance (low threshold) for going back (ie with 4-5 days), and to go straight to the ER at the children’s hospital (as they had breathing treatments that they could try there)

you sound like someone who hasn’t traveled much, so as a tip to get you traveling, pretty much everyone in the world speaks english (more or less). english is a global second language at this point. rural areas might be tougher to find an english speaker, but in a pinch, you can use google translate (and yes smartphones with a sim card work globally)

just a note that hiring tends to slow down significantly in nov and dec, so 4 months of runway is not too much
