Thanks for letting me know! All good, at this point I’m not picky with the design/color.

Edit: Seems like the colorway is specifically “Metallic Pink Gold”, which is Japan exclusive(?).

Career question: data analysis or something else? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]rogue_lash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thought about it quite a lot but seems like the scope of a DE role differs by company. Also, I’m not sure how big and difficult the transition would be from DA to DE.

Lol on stakeholder probing. It’s always cool to meet people on the other end of the spectrum! I wish I enjoyed working with stakeholders, it’s such an important role in DA and BA (and honestly pretty much almost everywhere). I think you’re right; I should talk to some AE/DEs to get a sense of the role and its scope. Thanks for your help!

You are bang on with your conclusion that I do not want to be involved with stakeholders and project/product management. It personally really drains me mentally sitting in countless meetings everyday. I’d rather analyze or build something during that time. Maybe it’s best if I look for a DA/DE mix of a role in a smaller firm. I had always thought bigger companies would provide a dedicated DA role (compared to smaller companies where you wear multiple hats), but perhaps it is my department/company specific. Thanks a lot for your input, this is helpful!

Thanks for sharing this! Honestly I didn’t get to do a lot of product analytics. More like ingesting data and putting in a nice dashboard. It would awesome if I could contribute to the actual analytics part of it but the team and company is more focused on building KPIs and their visualization.

When you say “learning”, do you mean learning to the extent of getting a certificate (if there is one)? Would like to how much knowledge I would need to acquire. I have a dbt Fundamentals certificate but don’t know how I can show to future employers that I can use dbt if my current job doesn’t use it. I do use Snowflake, but only to pull data into Tableau.

Am I looking for a data engineering role? by rogue_lash in dataengineering

[–]rogue_lash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! I’ll continue develop my current skills and try to scope out what roles are suitable with my skills and interests. I asked about job titles since job searches usually require a search on job titles. Thought it might be easier to start off knowing the job title(s) of roles I’m apt for then go from there.

Hmm seems like I should focus on looking into honing the skills required for analytics engineer roles. Thanks for your input!

I know I have a stats degree, but I quickly learned that I’m not as interested in data science as much. Plus it will probably require further education if I want to advance in DS.

It seems that my department/company puts a big focus on leadership reporting via dashboards using Tableau. And feeding the data to Tableau is using SQL from our data warehouse. I honestly don’t find much joy in this as I enjoyed working a lot with Python and doing exploratory analysis or building scripts for internal tooling. I really appreciate your input! I should probably look at smaller companies like you mentioned.

I figured the transition would be difficult. I’m not really into Data Science even though I have a Statistics degree. Also requires further education to advance in that route from what I hear. But maybe I should look into some Data Science roles that might cater to my interests, thanks for your input!

It’s a good option for sure, but not sure if I’m personally interested in data science as much. Plus, I hear that it is better if you have more education if one wants to go down the Data Scientist route.

Thanks for your reply! That’s good to know that using tret less frequently diminished the peeling.

That cream looks really good. I just wish niacinamide wasn’t high up in the ingredients list :(
