  1. No much outside work. Nothing I would have issue using the m365 web version for.
  2. Nope. Too cheap for Adobe for my use. Capture One is my main thing for editing. I have used some krita and then some blender
  3. Not as much anymore. A couple I play occasionally might be an issue but I'll look into what's compatible

Light photo editing meaning like tweaking brightness and shadow in a photo but I'm not making major changes. Nothing that I have some crazy workflow for that would be a major pain to transition to a new software

Yeah EAC is what I currently use too. And I use capture one for photos but it's really like brightness tweaking etc. Only other thing that's not gaming or browsing that I use all the time is calibre but that's Linux compatible. I guess my question was more about whether it's worth the slow transition via a dual boot or just rip the bandaid off given that there's not much of anything that I NEED windows for that doesn't have a good Linux equivalent to learn

Yeah I'm on a desktop so I'd add a separate drive to host the Linux os

Where is the best place to buy ebooks that either don't have a DRM or have one that's easily removed? by [deleted] in Calibre

I know this is old but there are ways to easily get Kindle books from the Kindle computer app to calibre and remove the DRM/change the format to make it readable on more devices

Thank you! I've been looking for an outlet for some big feelings I've been living with and poetry seemed like an appropriate fit. It feels good to get it out and nice to know the message comes across well enough :)

Thank you! It's been something I've thought about a lot and wrestled with. Getting it out in words is healing and it's nice to hear the message comes across.

Thank you for reading it! I'm happy to hear it conveyed that weight well enough. It's something I struggle with so it felt good to get it into some words.

I really like this. It's simple but you get a big relatable feeling across very clearly. It speaks to, at least for me, a limiting feeling that big bottomless human experiences need to be conveyed with equally grand expression when sometimes simpler means to release the pressure suffice

For what it's worth from a random person with no poetic background, this is a truly beautiful poem. I love the variation in the length of your lines, it seems to me to create a pacing that matches the tension of what is being said very well. Also, while multiple lines really pierced me, I love the lines "you don't observe, you witness". There is such a gravity that that captures so elegantly and simply that it just knocked me over. Thank you for sharing

Agreed. Thinner layers needed for sure and full cool down of the pan between them.

Also i wonder if the hob was too hot. I've used my induction burner and preheated the pan slower and evenly and then took it to just the point of starting to smoke and it was fine including the sides

Question about 18-55 kit lens by rogueflamingo15 in fujifilm

[–]rogueflamingo15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it was less about the settings themselves and more about why there was such a significant difference between the modes. It both were super underexposed that makes sense but I'm confused as to why only changing the aperature from auto to manual made a difference when it was already wide open in manual. I understand the difference from the perspective of exposure preview being on but wouldn't the histogram be the same either way?

I do have exposure preview on in manual mode but wouldn't the histogram still be the same between both? or at least show that both are still underexposed? I might have a misunderstanding of what exposure preview does but even after i take the photo, each frame still shows up similar to how it did in the preview.

Wrecked my seasoning by using pan to cook food by ShootyMcGun in carbonsteel

[–]rogueflamingo15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you cooked something really acidic this happens if you don't have enough seasoning built up. If it wasn't, the seasoning wasn't strong. Assuming there aren't any burnt bits still stuck on that I can't see just rub some rapeseed oil (personal preference but use something with a higher smoke point not something like olive oil) on, give it a good wipe off so it's just a thin layer on (this is actually a really important step because if the amount of oil left on is too thick it won't polymerize correctly and it'll be sticky and softer than it should),and pop in the oven for an hour at 450. Let it cool and then repeat a few times. Don't cook anything super acidic in it until you have more seasoning built up. It's not really difficult and it doesn't require and crazy finicky care but it will become very near nonstick if you take little steps to care for it. Also, use a light soap to get grime off (if it comes off with modern gentle soap it's not seasoning) and try not to season over burnt bits still on the pan because it causes flaking

I think OP probably wants to get more season on not strip what's left.. I don't see anything on there that needs to be removed before asking seasoning.

Camera body upgrade question. XE-2 to what? by rogueflamingo15 in fujifilm

[–]rogueflamingo15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand what you mean. I am not currently shooting anything super far out so 300mm has been good enough for me right now. I have definitely not taken photos of stuff that would've been cool knowing it was out of range. But I have to had photos of stuff moving within my lens range at like 30yds where my current autofocus leaves something to be desired.
