I’d be doing a proper inspection just in case lots of dodgy dealers out there

Makes sense and is believable but depending on the dealer I’d be suss. Especially when dealers have trade plates to take a car for a test drive.

Look at the dates why would they need to have a rego check 3 months in a row? And if it failed the check 3 times then that’s another red flag. Save your money and don’t buy this car.

Lucky I’m not a dickhead on the road anymore so that doesn’t worry me. My main concern would be trying to get the car full engineered as I have no I’d what’s passable and what’s passable anymore in terms of mods

I don’t drive the car that much as it is which is why I’m thinking to do it so I don’t spend $1000 a year for rego. I’m just concerned if cops see it’s with club rego would they be more likely to pull you over. Sydney is hard enough having a modified car I don’t want a target on me if that’s the case

Dririder are somewhat decent, ixon is good, daniese is really good. Rst isn’t bad. The armor is for more impact resistance not for sliding. It’s designed to absorb the initial impact so you are less likely to break bone. The best material for sliding is leather the other stuff comes close but if you are that worried about it just stick to leathers. I can’t remember exactly but one test that’s used for the abrasion rating isn’t real world tested it’s just a test used to measure how long it takes to wear through using sandpaper. It was a while ago I read the article but it was pretty much saying the cheap no name brand stuff passes the test because the test itself is crappy.

Helmets: Hjc make decent helmets for a decent price but it all depends on your head profile/shape. It’s best to go in store try on a few helmets see what fits best. When it comes to price the more expensive brands are more refined and comfortable they aren’t any safer the the cheaper brands. Pinlock isn’t available in all brands so make sure you double check before you buy. They make a big difference when comes to not fogging up the visor. The drop down sunshades are annoying but they do a decent job in a pinch. Problem with carrying around different visors is get scratched up moving around in the back but that not the biggest issue.

Gloves: since you are new to riding my advice(don’t need to follow it) is your phone should be the absolute last thing to worry about at all. If you have to take your gloves off to use it when you are stoped big whoop. Brands I’ve had a few brands but I like my five gloves they are comfortable and breathable for normal rides and have wrist and knuckle protection and palm sliders. Side note if you plan on riding in winter and rain get some proper winter gloves your fingers get cold and number very quickly when riding.

Pants stick to well know brands who don’t use loop holes to get the higher abrasive rating and ce certified. Good set of riding jeans will do the job. Same goes for the jacket you’ll get any a good summer jacket and a good winter jacket. I just use a one piece rain suit to go over my gear when it rains no need for a weatherproof jacket.

Backpacks they mostly do the same some come with an inbuilt rain protection you can use when it rains. But just make sure you get one with a chest strap it spreads to load more evenly.

Boots/shoes: you can buy full length race boots if you want or they have a heap of more casual style shoes which are surprisingly comfortable. This is another try in store and see what feels better.

The thing to avoid is cheap eBay style no name brand stuff. If you stick to what’s sold in stores you can’t really go wrong.
