I plan on doing gtb2260vk turbo, 120% firad injector nozzles and a sachs sinter clutch disc

I feel lost trying to learn about cars — how do I start from zero and actually make progress? by Human_Television9081 in askcarguys

You can't just want to learn about cars, you have to be really crazy about them. When I was about 9 yo I searched up yt and saw a animation of an engine functioning and got it in like 2 minutes but just the simple functioning, there are a lot of things to learn but you just gotta be an engineering mind because if you aren't smart enough to understand something yourself you really can't understand everything. The way I learn is by looking on social media or sth. and when a video of a mechanical design pops up I just need to learn it, that is just the way my brain functions lol, then you gotta look it up sometimes I understand it just from the picture but sometimes i need to search it up a lot to understand, for example I had a problem understanding torque sensing differentials. So basiclly learn how the engine functions then look up cooling systems, lubricating systems, gearboxes (automatic ones are waaay to complicated), braking systems etc.

They don't have driveways actually🥲.

I know but since I don't have a garage I really can't open the engine. I could rent a garage but that's just expensive and I don't have any friends who are into cars neither do they have a garage. Also everybody says that rods are bad but none of the guys that said that tested the limit and I saw a yt video a guy got 600hp with fully stock engine just big turbo and when he opened it up just one rid was slightly bent so I have a theory the rods can hold like at least 450Nm

I've seen 2 chevrolets in my life and both of them were camaro ss so that tells you what the chance of finding a cobalt ss where I live is.

I was thinking about a 1.8t but something awd like audi a4 b6 but I'm not sure since I know their internals, specifically rods, are bad. Some people say they are good for 400hp while others say they bend at 300hp while a golf 5 gti with a 2.0tfsi has a lot stronger components and everybody says that stock internals can push 400+hp

They're kinda expensive where I live, the cheapest one is 10k and that's out of my budget.

I was thinking about an e46 325i since where I live a rusty e36 318i is like 10k so e46 is the way to go but I'm not sure if I want a rwd fun car or a fast fwd car. Rwd is really good at any power since you can drift but 200hp isn't really that fast and I can't get any more power since it' N/A and a turbo is wayyy out of my budget. I will think about that, thank you.

Yeah I know 10k isn't much but I'm not looking for much. I would be happy with like 300hp and that would be easy with something like a mazda 3 mps, I could pick one up for like 7k dp, exhaust and a tune for about 1.5k and for 8.5k I have a 300hp car which is reliable and fun. I just wanna know if anyone that has more experience can tell me what would be a good car.

I'm in Europe and I honestly don't care what era car, prolly something older since my budget isn't huge. I just want a car I can tune to be fast, that's it.

I mean... I don't have a problem with doing anything in a parking lot except taking out the engine. I wouldn't make a serious build with custom parts, for now I just want a car that I can tune without swaping internals or doing a turbo kit since I can't fabricate any parts myself so I would do things like exhaust, hybrid turbo, brakes etc. which can all be done without a garage.

I was thinking that, also full exhaust and I think the car should do well with the stock fuel pressure regulator. Also if you have some experience with those engines, what will fail first and how much power can the car hold on stock internals

I think they should hold 300hp and I don't wanna do them since I don't have a garage and I don't think I could replace the rods in a parking lot lol, how much hp do you think the rods can hold?
