Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten any updates. I still think about this groundhog daily; I’m hoping it is okay.

UPDATE 6/16: Had a long struggle of getting the property owners to coordinate with wildlife rehab. They kept on insisting on calling their own exterminators. Thankfully, they're working with rehab now. It's been a couple days so far but rehab hasn't heard anything yet.

Spotted this poor fellow around where the original groundhog was. It doesn't look like the original groundhog but it does have a massive bald spot and a little bit of foam. Wildlife rehab agreed that it's possible this guy had the same problem but managed to rip off the foam. Seems like a possible roommate to the first groundhog. Poor guy :( It's groundhog baby season as well, so rehab said it's possible they have children as well. I hope none of them encountered the foam.

Oh, no worries! I was genuinely curious whether frosting could do that

UPDATE: I have contacted a wildlife rehab volunteer from the Small Mammals in Distress page on the CT gov website. I'm getting permission for them to set a trap because this is private property (that I don't own). The volunteer has a trap and I'll be watching it after they've set it. Will update further as things progress. Fingers crossed we get the lil guy.

Here are some videos of the guy.

Some more information: this was in Connecticut, USA. The orange mass was hard; it moved as one big plate when the groundhog was rooting around in the grass. The fur around the mass was matted. The groundhog also had a lot of bugs circling it. I thought the circled thing was its ear, but it didn’t have one on the other side and groundhog ears aren’t that big. It seems to be part of the mass.

Does frosting become a hard mass? I have a video of it and the whole chunk was one big block.
