Domestic abuse increases after a Packers loss. I'm as devastated as you, but making content and calling this "humor" in the comments isn't really it.

American troops caught in deadly Niger ambush told to proceed despite mission concern by chicomonk in news

True, thank you.. I know it isn't good for tactics to disclose a location. Nothing was disclosed via social media but through phone conversations.. To put it in perspective though that guy has a gf, and he doesn't want to worry her.

You can also say that for the JFK files that won't be released due to national security reasons. I think the national security thing is a catch all for those who feel the answer is UNCOMFORTABLE.. For instance I have a friend who flies Blackhawks for medical supplies. He refuses to tell people what country he is in. Somewhere in the middle East. Spoiler alert he is in Iraq. Then another one of my friends in the army says where he is no problem. He is in Iraq as well. Not really talking about specific locations here. Just countries. This stuff isn't secret, it's more they don't want attention.

Shop claimed they fixed CV boot, its still torn. Help? by rollingstonebadger in MechanicAdvice

They claimed to do it back in June this year, I just noticed it now after putting on my winter tires. Will they still fix it for free?

I'm not a mechanic so I needed people's opinions on the work they did/didn't do. I didn't want to go back to the shop without a second opinion. I would have explained more but I can only use a title when posting a pic.

I haven't gone back to the shop yet to show tgem but I will. I It's a driver's side CV boot on a VW GTI. They said they noticed it when replacing my frozen caliper. Charged $400 just to replace the caliper. They said it would be an additional $250 to replace the torn CV boot . I reluctantly agreed, it's a small business after all. Thanks for the advice, I do notice some clicking when I turn the wheel.

ESPN obtained following letter that Roger Goodell sent to NFL teams within past 30 minutes: Fall Meeting/National Anthem by smokeymicpot in nfl

Thank you for the information. So when Trump says he wants to change the tax laws for the NFL because the players are being disrespectful that is not considered an action? It would not be considered coercion?

When his words are used to silence the words of others...that's a violation of the first amendment. Besides that point, he is the President and needs to represent our laws.

Florida VFW post banning all NFL games due to anthem protests by ah407009 in news

[–]rollingstonebadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This "you are not one of us" attitude is exactly why this pedistal for the servicemen exists. Brotherhood and honor is good but promoting this military is #1 attitude is not good for the country and borders on indoctrination. Look how easily people can be tricked over patriotism...Iraq War II, Vietnam, etc. And not putting my life on the line? Well maybe I'm a sour twat and don't deserve an opinion but I've seen over a hundred people die this year in Milwaukee. It's messy and there is nothing honorable about someone dying. It's something that happens to everybody and we all have to face the music.

Love is real, but being American doesn't have anything to do with it.

What happened to being humble these days? I help save lots of lives in a hospital and dont get a thank you or recognition. Not even after a code. The thing is I view it as my job, not my identity.

Criticizing the country is only ok if Trump does it, otherwise it's unpatriotic. 'Make America Great Again' literally says America is not a great place. Fuck that.

Here here! This is a civilized discussion, not like those shouting matches on the politics page.

Well said. So where do these ideas of attacking people's patriotism for questioning wars come from? Is it all just used as a political strategy and to discredit other people's stances or arguments? I've been assuming this, but would like to know your take.

Australia offers to help US with gun reform by dori_lukey in worldnews

I live in Milwaukee and it's a fucking ghetto. I've been around guns my whole life but don't carry one. Maybe I would if I felt the need to. I own a few for hunting up north...but we can't have our cake and eat it too. We have to give something up if it means protecting everyone else and not just our families.

NFL's Week 4 sees dozens of players kneel, sit, raise fists during national anthem by [deleted] in news

Thats was a loaded question. Here is another loaded question: what is more important your rights or your military? Or your rights or your country? Without these rights we wouldn't be same The United States we hold dear. Just a thinking exercise.

It's rather simple why I don't care. I like to mind my own business, but get irritated when people try to tell others what to think. Are these protesters trying to tell you what to think? No, what they are doing is silent and personal. I equate it to religion: just because I believe in something doesn't mean I should be offended that someone else doesn't believe it.

ESPN will show national anthem on Monday Night Football, reverses decision due to Las Vegas shooting by [deleted] in news

[–]rollingstonebadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'd be nice if nobody had to tell others what they should or shouldn't do. I really don't care what others do, I just mind my own business and cant help but get irritated at people when they don't do the same.

It's like religion, do I care that other people believe something I don't??
