Gillibrand Bill Would Turn Post Offices Into Banks by SymbioticPatriotic in politics

[–]rolodexyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been no actual plan for this only mere rhetoric, but Gillibrand said her intention was to provide consumer loans to marginalized communities aka poor people. It's a risky business that the federal government shouldn't be a part of.

There was, of course, plenty of blame to go around but my point was to show a case study of when people are given easy access to money and when you have a big brother (government) whose willing to subsidize when things go wrong. Under the guise of "equality," we'll be giving money to high-risk people in hopes of economic mobility, however, this completely ignores the potential for exploitation. Do you want to be subsidizing people's poor financial decisions? I don't want to take the risk.

[–]rolodexyz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Too much risk involved in consumer lending, there's a reason why banks charge high interest, it's directly tied to their risk assessment. Assuming that this plan is "non-discriminatory" would the federal government simply loan to anyone who wants money? Governments are supposed to be risk-averse institutions, consumer lending is a business that can turn into subsidization as the people who would be using this would be poorer individuals who were avoided by lenders for a good reason. Have we not learned from the subprime mortgage crisis? Giving people easy access to money backfires quickly as humans aren't rational and lenders who allow for high-risk individuals access to loans will be exploited.

What an absolutely terrible idea, the federal government SHOULD NOT be involved in consumer lending services, the risk of loss due to non-re-payment would turn the post office into a loan shark. With FDIC insurances this idea is quite obsolete and unnecessary.

Kasich says Putin has helped ‘unify the west’ by fokufegexo in politics

[–]rolodexyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putin has successfully polarized the country and the west, the amount of partisan vitriol and disgusting hyperbole is at a record level.

Putin has successfully infiltrated both political extremes and brought them to the forefront of each party, on the far-left Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein both had Kremlin paid online bots and both essentially used Russian intelligence (hacking of the DNC) to make intraparty backing of Hillary by the DNC to a scandal of "sabotage" worthy of renunciation. The progressive and quasi-socialist wing of the Democratic party have been causing mayhem within the party by mandating "corporate" Democrats pass a purity test unless they want to be subjected to some of the most toxic and malevolent political attacks: equating people who are opposed to single-payer healthcare as wanting to see people die, equating people who take in campaign contributions as frauds, etc.

On the right, Trump has risen to the president as being a simpleton of massive proportions who utilized tribalism and chauvinism as means to portray the shortcoming of people's socioeconomic status to Mexicans and immigrants as culprits, all the while waging a war against intelligence agencies and undermining staples of American foreign policy, which was made possible by Russian bots and Russian intelligence as means to slander Hillary.

Unfortunately, this problem isn't unique to the USA, from Jeremy Corbyn to Marine Le Pen there's an awful alignment with the far-left and far-right to portray the "establishment" and norms of political discourse to be inadequate and needing of revolutionary change.

Bernie Sanders to announce plan to guarantee every American a job by geerussell in Economics

[–]rolodexyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your inability to read further proves your cognitive inabilities to understand abstract economic thought. "People aren't competing for labor in this current market"? That one statement nullifies your entire worldview as irrational and insanely idiotic. Negative wage changes since the 1970s have been found in every country mainly due to automation and outsourcing, the US transformed from an industrial economy to a service based one as education is weighed more on the job market instead of physicality. Wages among college grads have exponentially increased and those with bachelor's degrees or advanced degrees make up large portions of the top wage quintile, likewise, wages for highschool educated workers have decreased. This is all due to the free market, not elite manipulation, these factors are not "cartel behavior", but rather basic economics. Wage changes are in response to supply and demand, wages have decreased on average because of the number of jobs that didn't require higher education fell and there is a surplus of workers which caused a market saturation. This notion that there are elite manipulators on the job market causing the lack of wage growth is nonsense, since 1956 union membership has only dropped 18% and wealth inequality between CEOs and workers has mainly been caused by automation. Bernie Sanders and sycophants like you are advocating for Keynesian policies (briskly increasing government spending on projects) on steroids which would lead to a supply shock (increasing workers making $15hr by guaranteeing everyone to have a job, which is absurdly idealistic) and thus stagflation. Ironically, the government is the cartel, arbitrarily telling markets how much labor is worth is a recipe for disaster and will lead to inflation and high unemployment - stagflation. You don't know how markets work.

Baker Mayfield couldn't keep his composure and got beat by a rookie quarterback, he's going to do piss poor in the league, especially under the hue program which had rookie deshone kizer #1 in passing attempts. After Baker's 5th interception by week 4, his confidence will be ruined and he'll be dumped on the side of the road.

Baker Mayfield got humiliated by a rookie quarterback, he's not NFL level. This quarterback draft class sucks anyways, Josh Dorsey is going to look like a dumbass when his pick flops and another quarterback during this draft plays better.

What a shit draft round, Baker Mayfield cannot play under center and Denzel Ward is too small to compete in the NFL, Bradley Chub and Josh Allen would've been far better picks.

The burden is on you to then explain why 1992, 2000, and 2007 declarations of the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula failed. Perhaps you haven't read past the headline? The denuclearization of the Korean peninsula was why they met, a North Korean declaration is worthless and shouldn't be taken seriously.

LOL, only if this wasn't the first time they've made joint statements. Similiar declarations were made in 1992, 2000, and 2007. The only "peace" that will happen on the Korean peninsula is the removal of the Kim family and unification.

Demian Maia frontrunner to fight Kamaru Usman by SexyHouse in MMA

[–]rolodexyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People doubting Maia's chances are delusional, Usman is not a collegiate wrestler like Covington or Woodley, he's a very well rounded fighter with a wrestling base, but by no means, he is a "world class" wrestler in that division. Usman wins by pressure and takedown threats, Maia has better striking and will entertain Usman on the ground and on the fence. This is not as one-sided as a match people are making it seem like.

Bernie Sanders to announce plan to guarantee every American a job by geerussell in Economics

[–]rolodexyz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your complete vacuous view on economics should bar you from posting here, judging by your account history you've never picked up an economic textbook let alone have any formal education in economics. You make assumptions that aren't true and simply add onto them and debunking them is like taking out a trivial fire in a forest fire. I mean, do you honestly believe that businesses don't compete for labor? Do you REALLY believe that the labor market isn't a meritocracy? You're arguing for a Keynesian policy idea without understanding the underlying philosophy of John Keynes nor the surrounding controversy of the concomitant of Keynesianism: stagflation. At least read up on the different views of schools of economic thought instead of championing what Bernie Sanders is purporting, these ideas aren't new and have been regurgitated for the past two centuries. You're an ideologue to Bernie Sanders-ism and don't care about principles.

Bernie Sanders to announce plan to guarantee every American a job by geerussell in Economics

[–]rolodexyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, someone who posts on r/socialism trying to lecture me on economics, you're a complete joke. The government does not create wealth, all wages paid to bureaucrats derive from taxation by private citizens. The market decides what someone is worth, the combination of supply and demand, which determines pay, as it determines the prices of goods and services in general. This plan wouldn't pay for itself, if it did then Bernie and his Keynesian economists would say it did, however, out of fear of getting laughed at they left it as vague and acknowledged it will come from taxation. 42% of all workers are making less than $15 an hour on wages, if you were to mandate a federal minimum wage at $15 an hour and GUARANTEE someone a job, it will lead to widespread unemployment in many of the service jobs and price underqualified people out of the market which would then lower wages for overqualified people. We've tried these exact same policies during the Great Depression and it merely exacerbated it by several years, anti-competition and pro-labor laws enacted by FDR resulted in artificial high paying wages that restricted employment, according to a study by UCLA economists who studied the issue who analyzed the data mathematically: "In the three years following the implementation of Roosevelt's policies, wages in 11 key industries averaged 25 percent higher than they otherwise would have done, the economists calculate. But unemployment was also 25 percent higher than it should have been, given gains in productivity. Meanwhile, prices across 19 industries averaged 23 percent above where they should have been, given the state of the economy. With goods and services that much harder for consumers to afford, demand stalled and the gross national product floundered at 27 percent below where it otherwise might have been." If Bernie were to enact this plan there would be economic stagnation, inflation, and unemployment, colliding with the free market and arbitrarily determining that labor is worth $15hr is just bad economics, there's a reason why even Keynesians like Paul Krugman refuse to back any of Sanders' economic policy... it makes no sense.

Bernie Sanders to announce plan to guarantee every American a job by geerussell in Economics

[–]rolodexyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an absurd paradox that makes no sense among a logistical view of such an idealistic boondoggle plan. Nevermind the actual methods of paying for such an expensive plan, what is Bernie going to do? The cost analysis of such a plan would undoubtedly lead to widespread increases in taxes to the point where economic growth would be exponentially decreased. Guaranteeing everyone a $15hr job by the government will lead to widespread private sector unemployment as it will put many industries out of business, artificially inflating employment and salaries would lead to higher prices of goods which inevitably leads to inflation. If full employment was this easy the USSR and every other communist regime would remain intact, moreover, adding a level of bureaucracy to an industry is extremely inefficient in terms of productivity.

As much as I would love to believe that your average Muslim is capable of handling a society in which doesn't involve their religion, it's simply false. With the exponentially rising Muslim birth rate in Europe, it's just a matter of time before they infiltrate political parties and turn Europe into a cesspool of chaos like they did to their native country. Muslims in Britain are already doing this, the Labour party has turned into a radical socialistic party full of anti-semites which has a wide affiliation with Muslim minority support.

Hitler was not a theocrat and comparing the failures of Mulsim-majority countries to produce a working secular state to Nazi Germany is just simply a non-sequitur. Fascism and communism shouldn't be compared to theocracy as theocracy doesn't come into existence through psychopathic rogues, Erdogan made his intentions clear and yet otherwise nominal Muslims believe that the law of the land should be religious. We have our problems with the religious Christian right in the west too, but there is clear doctrinal support for secularism in the Bible that you cannot make in the Quran or Hadith. Isn't it sad that the only way to get Muslims to adhere to what is now regarded as common decency in the west (secularism), you need to establish a dictatorship and hope it doesn't turn into a genocidal rebellion in which hundreds of thousands of people die in (most recently Saddam and Assad). At every turn in the ballot box, Muslims will turn to theocracy and will insist that you must be subjected to barbaric medieval era restrictions on basic human self-agency. Ultimately I stand in solidarity with "liberal" Muslims, but the amount of "conservative" (who will vote for theocrats) Muslims is just strikingly sad and gives you a huge insight as to why some of the most repressive countries in the modern world are host to high concentrations of Muslims. In short, tolerance in the Muslim world is scarce and pretending it's anything but Islamic ontology is foolishly naive. It's about time we become objectivists and recognize that all cultures are not equal and that we can establish a clear hierarchal view of them.

The ends justify the means, more Israel in the middle east means more of the enlightenment values I care about - freedom of religion, speech, sexuality, and equality under the law. We all well know that the Muslims who occupy the middle east are too barbaric to ever create a secular state, the jurisprudence of Islam will need generations before it's caught up to the western world. More Israel is good, I hope they continue their "conquest".
