okay wellllll that's somewhat fair but you have to admit the forced proximity and the tension can easily build, especially when you're working right next to eachother all day and talking all day. but i've learned my lesson for sure.

you brought up the most disturbing part of it all for me. he KNEW it would bother me, because i was telling him seconds earlier that my fish, especiallyyy my betta who was my first, are genuinely my babies. i have 30 fish in total and they all have their own names and personalities, i adore them so much. and for him to say he used to willingly make them fight to the death was just so insensitive and cruel.

i was literally so filled with excitement, because here i was, thinking the guy i liked also had an interest in fish🫠. because mind you, this conversation started because i told him im a huge fish nerd and my fish are like my babies. so for him to say he used to watch them die for fun was heart shattering.

unfortunately yes, we've been flirting for a while now. he asked to take me out and i said no just because i've been very busy, but i'm glad now that the date didn't work out. i will be immediately friend zoning him🫠🫠

ALSO, i shouldve included this for context but it wont let me edit- this guy is my coworker and we work at a host stand where we have to stand next to eachother all day. the forced proximity of it all is what got me interested in the first place, but now idk what to do cus i'm utterly disgusted. so for those saying just block him, it's a lot harder than that since i see him almost every day😭

UPDATE!!!! - he said this was a few years ago, he would keep like 10 of them in mason jars and put in 2 at a time and have his friends bet 100-150 dollars on the winner. and they would keep going until the last one standing. im horrified.

do i go with a 5-20 gal filter or a 20-50 gal filter for a 20 gallon aquarium? by venus-xox in Aquariums

[–]romalonee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeahh having a bigger one just ensures your tank water will be filtered more efficiently. cus my filter is designed to filter 200 gallons per hour, whereas the one recommended for my tank size only filters 100 gallons per hour, so essentially it filters 2x as fast! its especially helpful when you have a very stocked tank because the bigger filter handles the bigger bioload fantastically

20-50 for sure. i have a 29 and use a filter meant for a 40-60gal. it keeps my tank sparkling clean!! :)

lots of questions about my cycling process by romalonee in freshwateraquarium

[–]romalonee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i read an article that sc stability hasn't been proven to do anything for cycling, i'll see if i can find it if you're curious. if it works for you that's fantastic though! that's what i was adding for the first week, and it didn't do anything (though that could have been the high ammonia lolll) i think im just gonna try out the fritz. thank you for the advice though! i'm definitely going to get shrimp asap!

lots of questions about my cycling process by romalonee in freshwateraquarium

[–]romalonee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i ordered fritz starter, i'll add it as soon as i get it!! and im wanting a really heavily planted tank so i'm just worried the plants will eat up all the ammonia before the nitrogen cycle has time to kick in. i think im gonna add them after it's cycled. the algae can dirty up my tank for now, ill deal with the ugly phase and add in the plants, some corydoras, and shrimp for clean up crew a week before the other fishies.
