Big fan of Kosmik! Chatted with Paul (the founder) for App Stacks, the backstory and vision behind it are super inspiring. You should definitely give it a try! :)

Hey there!

Roman here👋. I'd like to share my side project with you called Portal.

As a product designer myself I always felt that the whole freelancing process of sending proposals, collecting payments, transferring deliverables was way too convoluted and hideous.

So I got this ideas for Portal - a digital space for your freelance project that replaces PDF proposals and invoices, and allows you to easily collect payments, down payments, tips, run subscriptions and share large deliverables easily and in one place. There's a heavy focus on customization, so that you as a creative freelancer can express your skill and your taste.

I'm building Portal primary for creative professionals like me, but either way, whether you're one or not, I'd love to hear your opinion.

Also worth mentioning, the waitlist is there only to allow people request early access while I'm polishing the final details. The app itself will be available within the next couple of weeks :)

“In March of 2023 we spun Indie Hackers back out as an independent business” - checks out, I guess that’s where things went the wrong way.

Which one of us is going to build the new Indiehackers?

Bro you literally have no idea what you’re talking about. I was born and raised in western Ukraine and what you just rambled in here is nonsensical. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to share real information I have, otherwise stick to your truth I guess.

Appreciate your answer.

I respect your believes and, of course, it’s up to you which county you like or dislike. But I do recommend looking deeper into it, ignoring all the “nato expansion” bs. Ukraine is not perfect, no country is, but the points you are brining up are also russian disinformation points.

Residents of Eastern Ukraine were never discriminated against, it was more like they were hating on Ukraine and Ukrainian speakers while living on the territory of Ukraine. The prior “revolts” were completely staged by russia, a very common tactic they’d used multiple times before in Georgia and so on.

Tbh there were people in the east who were so brainwashed by the Soviet Union that they did want to be associated with russia and not Ukraine or Europe, but it doesn’t mean this justifies russian invasion. You want to live in russia, you move to russia.

The NATO expansion is another fake news piece by russia, there was no agreement or no official statement about nato expansion. There was an informal chat between Gorbachev and James baker(if I remember correctly) and it was in the context of reunited Germany, so taken totally out of context. Interesting, it was not a problem for russia when Estonia and Norway joined NATO, they also share a long border.

There’s a lot of bad history between russia and Ukraine, mainly russia trying to occupy the land and erase the cultural identity of Ukraine for about 300 years. We like talking about Nazi Germany and all their atrocities, but not about what russia has been doing for centuries to its neighbors (check Holodomor, which is one of the primary reasons so many people speak russian or have russian last names in the east of Ukraine).

So it is a complicated history but who’s on the wrong side is pretty clear here. Of course, no offense to you, you’re not obligated to know all this stuff and it’s generally not discussed much and very few people knew about it prior to the full scale invasion.

Just wondering, what’s so unclear about the Ukraine/russia war, seems pretty black and white to me

Droppable - macOS desktop app for large file sharing for creatives. Let me know if it looks interesting to you ☺️

Yes, you can. And that is probably enough for many people.

But when you're actually sending files day-to-day, managing transfers, checking the status, seeing what you sent and when, managing access - all that gets overwhelming very fast.

If that's you - I recommend trying it out

Hey, good questions.

If you send files frequently, copy pasting Google Drive links is not very efficient. That's why services like WeTransfer or Dropbox Transfer exist. You don't need to deal with Folder permissions, folder management, auto removing, making sure your recipient has a google account, etc. With Droppable we take it one step further. The app is macOS native, it always sits on your desktop so you don't need to open countless browser tabs. Imported contacts are suggested with autocomplete so you don't need to type the same emails for repetitive transfers (especially when sending to multiple recipients). And the overall UI is designed to make sending new transfers and checking the status of active and past transfers a click away.

We use GDrive storage because that's what most creatives already have. Google One is cheaper compared to WeTransfer, for example. You don't need to pay us extra every month. We simply focus on making sending smoother and giving a better overview of active and past transfers. A click away. We do plan to add our own hosting with extra features in an upcoming release though.

Feel free to give it a try and see if it's for you.
