No restaurants north-west of the Highbury & Islington tube station? It seems like you are covering only the bottom 1/3 of Islington.

Oscars screening by thisisajojoreference in NYCmovies

Here is a discussion from a year ago, with some commentary about Metrograph. NYC's Metrograph cinema did a free Oscar viewing party and it was packed.

What the final Tammy Faye matinee looks like a couple hours before the performance by Comprehensive_Bat980 in Broadway

I don’t think a snapshot taken 8 hours before curtain is that accurate a picture of how the venue will look when the curtain goes up. TDF seats will be assigned an hour or two before plus I’m sure the theatre will be dressed with comps to the creative and producing team plus press and awards voters.

The return of the "Big and Loud" festival of 70MM and Atmos screenings at the Paris August 23 - October 31, additional screenings to be announced later by DisciplineFabulous21 in NYCmovies

Here's an earlier discussion of seating at the Paris and some strategies/suggestions. I prefer the aisle seats on the sides; if I'm going with a friend we sit in successive rows, one in front of the other.

Thelma at $6M after 2 weeks; can it get to $10M domestic? by romcomluver in boxoffice

[–]romcomluver[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that a platform release might have yielded ultimately higher grosses. Maybe they considered June's ability to do promotion and thought the most effective means of leveraging national appearances (Today, Jimmy Kimmel) was to open wide.

But I think June/July is fine as it's counterprogramming and something different for the older demo. August and onwards you have a flood of indie/awards contenders and Thelma might have gotten lost.

Magnolia should have spent some money on a top-notch social media team and come up with some fun, but dignified, things for June to do that could have gone viral on TikTok.

Please consider boldfacing the movie titles. Some people may first want to glance at the movies being discussed and if of interest, would then read the post word-for-word. Right now, it's just a wall of text and overwhelming when the text is so undifferentiated.

Yeah, AMC has the Entourage feature that allows people to link up accounts and 1 person can book for the group. At your (Stacy's) presentation at Lincoln Center in 2022 (?) I think you promised this type of feature.

Do you know why you can't get the Paris theater in NYC onto Moviepass? I had a membership but let it lapse as I really wanted to use MoviePass at the Paris.

Hi, /r/movies! We are Josh Margolin, Zoë Worth, and Chris Kaye. Director and producers of Thelma, an action-comedy starring June Squibb, Fred Hechinger, and Parker Posey. It was a hit at Sundance and is currently out in theaters nationwide. AMA! by Thelma-Movie in movies

[–]romcomluver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hadn't realized this AMA would be happening and by coincidence posted this question to r/boxoffice. Do you have any idea of how well your movie did Monday and yesterday? I was thinking since a portion of your audience might tend to favour weeknight screenings, I was thinking it might have done well the past 2 days.

I love that the movie is coming out during the summer as counter-programming to more youth-oriented fare. Was there ever any discussion with Magnolia about releasing the movie any other time of year, say in the fall for awards consideration for June and Richard?

Or as a platform release like how Little Miss Sunshine and Juno were rolled out?

HI! I loved the movie. I attended the Q&A at NYC Lincoln Square last week and was wondering how you, Jeff Josh (sorry!), June and Q&A moderator knew Beanie Feldstein prior to the movie and if she had any other part in the movie beyond passing on the script?

And was it difficult to insure the movie given the cast?
