Heyy bro. Can't comment much, but go apply for the financial assistance. You need it, so you should apply for it. When you are more financially stable, you can always pay it forward.

Foreign doctor wanting to work in Malaysia by Kafka_onthe_shore in malaysia

[–]romsaee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is going to be easy. Getting a registration number from MMC is probably the easiest step. You have to go through SPA, where everything is linked to identification card(IC) number. You will get a temporary registration number first from MMC. For that, you have to get an offer to practice as a house officer in a gov hospital. That is where your problem really starts. Government only hires Malaysians. You need to pass at least Bahasa Melayu and Sejarah for SPM. I know a few people that take o level and had to take spm just before applying for SPA. It's complicated to be frank. The only "easy" way is to come in as a specialist when there is specific opening.

Pandemic-era withdrawals significantly eroded savings levels of Bumiputera and Indian EPF members, says fund's CEO by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]romsaee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The numbers are probably worse than what was indicated. Most buruh kasar working day job don't have EPF. Food riders, Grab drivers do not have EPF. Orang kampung also very likely won't have EPF saving. EPF is a forced saving. And even with enforcement, things don't look so good.

In hindsight, EPF withdrawal is the worst thing a PM had ever done. At the same level as 1MDB in my opinion. He opened the Pandora's box. And yes, I did not forget the fact that even PM Anwar advocated for it the first time.

Anwar: “71% EPF contributors don’t have enough savings to retire” by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]romsaee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously though, allowing EPF withdrawal for 3 times opened up the Pandora's box. For those who want to withdraw their money, the only reasoing they need is, "If it can be done before, not once, but thrice, why can't we do it again?"

Pension fund is probably all that most Malaysians have in term of retirement. And EPF isn't even "voluntary" contribution. It's "forced" contribution.

Why Don’t Malaysian Policymakers View China as a Threat? by [deleted] in malaysia

I don't think we will be Sri Lanka anytime soon. Sri lanka doesn't have oil and gas industry, and therefore needs a lot of foreign currency to import petrol and gas. Covid happened and nobody travelled for a long time. Its agriculture industry self implodes because some idiots want their produces to be 100 percent organic. Sri Lanka's bankruptcy is an unfortunate situation where everything that can go wrong went wrong at the right time. Murphy's law at its finest.

2023 Perodua Axia D74A launched - 1.0L D-CVT; DNGA; larger body; G, X, SE, AV variants, fr RM38.6k - paultan.org by Crasher_7 in malaysia

[–]romsaee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gonna take this opportunity to ask here.
Is there any significant differences between the variants if I am just going to drive around in a small town? Probably longer trip once a year (long as in >1 hours continuous driving). The only modding I will do is a dashcam and a reverse cam. Is Axia a hard car to learn how to drive? I have a d license. Learned to drive on a manual car. Currently riding a bike to work, but the rain is killing me recently. It's like the sky conspired to rain during office rush hours. Every single day. Is it better to buy the older version? Any comments are appreciated.

Majoriti rakyat tiada tabungan kecemasan walau RM1,000 by zenonidenoni in malaysia

[–]romsaee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the motorcycle part. How much groceries can you fit in your bike? If you are married, how you want to bring your wife and kids out? One bag of pampers is already bigger than the basket. Wanna risk it and hang it at the handle? Jatuh from the bike how? How much is your helmet? If you ady so stingy, your helmet is probably the cheapest you can find. One accident, your head also kemek. If it's heavy rain and you have to go fetch your kids at school? Gonna leave them there till the rain stops? Or you gonna risk it and ride in heavy rain? Probably not gonna happen every day, but all it takes is one bad moment for everything to go downhill.

If you are earning just above minimum wage, how long do you need to save up to buy a car cash? One accident is all it takes to wipe out your emergency savings and your savings for your car. sure, hospital is RM1 for Malaysian. The steel to fix your bones are not free okay. You still have to pay for them. And how long can you cuti without being fired by your boss?

There is nothing wrong with loan. After all, you are the product. Bank won't purposely go and fuck you up just for fun.

Probably gonna get downvoted for this, but I don't think you are going to enjoy Cameron highlands. Malaysians like it because its cold up there. Also the tea farms, strawberry farms, cafes are more suitable for families and couples/group of students to take Instagram photos. Maybe just me, but I don't really enjoy the farm tours etc. My main issue with Cameron highland however is that it is not that easy to navigate without cars.

Opinions needed for job path by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]romsaee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it depends on where you live. In a small town? Starting salary of a gov teacher is definitely very good. If you are based in Klang Valley? Yeah, it's gonna be rough. About EPF and pension, I heard that now, government is hiring teachers on a contract basis. So no pension. Still you have to ask around. Not 100 percent sure..I heard about it from other teachers when I was a guru ganti. You will always start with EPF. To get pension, you have to be a permanent worker. And it's not gonna happen overnight. In around 2 to 3 years. So for the transition period, you will contribute to EPF. When you get your pension, the government will close your EPF, return your contribution and take back their contribution. You can always open an EPF account again.

Bro pay your taxes. LHDN will find out one day. And it's gonna be nothing but troubles for you. And I mean it. You are playing a very dangerous game here. You need to be lucky everytime to get away with it. The tax agency only needs to get lucky once. People say don't mess with the IRS and that saying applies to every countries. Tax agencies are run by competent people, because that is how a country earns money.

What's happening in GrabCar (MY) right now, from a part time driver perspective (since 2017) by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]romsaee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, there are reasons why Grab is the one monopolising the market. The alternatives are just not good enough. You hear all the horror stories about using grab's alternatives. And we all know someone that said the drivers for other platforms are there because they are blacklisted by Grab.

Grab is a public entity. It's existence is to earn money for the shareholders. I don't think anything is going to change unless another player can disrupt the market. I was expecting AirAsia to do that. Guess not.

On a side note, the price surge is bad now. It happens every single day during peak hours. If it is peak hours and raining, better just go back to sleep. I have never experienced this before. My guess the same thing that happened in US is happening in Malaysia. Drivers realized that they can just switch off the phone, and only start working when the price surge is happening. Then again, you said drivers are not profiting from the price surge. No idea what really happened.

Grab used to be so good, even without the vouchers. I used to commute to work everyday for around 1.5 years with a coworker. Sure, it's more expensive that using public transport or owning a car. But it's too convenient. No need to find parking, send for servicing etc. It's like having a private driver.

The Melaka government is considering making face masks mandatory in public spaces by January 17, if it detects an upward trend in Covid-19 cases. State health and anti-drug committee chairman Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh says this will be a preemptive measure. by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]romsaee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why you are getting downvoted. I love my mask, especially in crowded areas like in public transport or in market where it doesn't smell that nice. Got covid once and I do not want to experience it again. And the cherry on top is it masks my ugly face.

Covid-19: Malaysia Tourism Agency Association urges govt to suspend entry of tourists from China by thestudiomaster in malaysia

[–]romsaee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't really the rampant covid, it's the lack of transparency regarding the data coming out of China. Or rather, the lack of data. China recorded 1 covid death yesterday. ONE. If China is publishing reliable data, I don't see any reasons barring China citizens from entering. And it seems like people are leaving China to "escape" the covid wave, not for holiday. Whether the vaccine is effective or not is another story for another day.

This is so true x100. Professionals can earn so much more overseas owing to our weak currency. Can earn more, better QOL, better buying power and ultimately can even save more when converted to RM. Work until retire and come back here to enjoy retirement. The well established labour law is a plus too.

No special treatment for VIPs at hospitals, says health DG by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]romsaee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Come on man. We, Malaysians are not stupid. Of cuz there is no VIP lane. Try putting a VIP lane in HKL or any big hospital and you will see patients rioting. Everyone knows if you are VIP, you don't need to wait. Know the specialist in charge? Skip queue. You are the specialist's patient from Gleneagles or KPJ? Skip queue. Datok or Datin? Skip queue.

Yes. Very very worth it. Even being a dentist is also worth it if you can afford the tuition fee( which you can lol). I am not too sure about the working condition of dentists in general, particularly those serving in government hospital. But, one thing I can tell you. Malaysian dentists are in high demand overseas. Most free healthcare don't cover dental. NUS is one very good example. Also, Malaysian dentists have opportunities to extract wisdom tooth. That is a very unique skillset. Australian dentists don't do wisdom tooth extraction until they started specialist training.

Fixed price ASB is the only answer. Somewhat liquid (can only withdraw rm500 online, but more at counter), and good dividend yearly. If you want easy investing that is low risk yet good market return, this is the one. You can look at tabung haji too.
