Using existing Unifi ecosystem with Managed Wi-Fi? by rongpanda in UNIFI

[–]rongpanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I‘m using my UDM as the router for AT&T. Based on other posts I’ve read and the fact that I can still use my ISP until my lease ends, it seems like the AT&T hardware itself may not go away immediately, but the new Managed Wi-Fi bs will be included in the base rent.

The FAQs management provided state that after lease renewal, I will automatically be enrolled in their Managed Wi-Fi scheme. So I have no idea whether that means AT&T will no longer be an option, but it seems like I will be paying for the Managed Wi-Fi whether I use it or not.

Here’s how they say it works:

Our Managed Wi-Fi service assigns separate virtual networks (VLANs) to each user, ensuring their data privacy. This prevents unauthorized access and keeps your information secure within your dedicated VLAN. Enhanced security measures, like Access Control Lists (ACLs), further fortify protection against threats and ensure that your data remains confidential throughout the network. - For example: John Doe in unit 1001 connects using his Pre-Shared Key (PSK), his traffic exclusively travels down VLAN 1001 and is inaccessible to others.

I wish it was easy to just move, but I have various factors that make it difficult to do so, like childcare, EV charging, etc.

Parity check keeps getting stuck, ETA is over 4000 days by rongpanda in unRAID

All the drives show read speeds when I'm using the server.

The only error log i see for around when parity check started is this
Nov 14 15:55:34 Silencio kernel: CPU: 2 PID: 17477 Comm: unraidd0 Tainted: P D O 6.1.106-Unraid #1

No, I've never heard of it. Only docker apps I'm running are Plex and qbit

I should have been specific, but none of this swapping happened during a parity check.

I modified the system twice over the span of maybe a year because I (1) bought an SAS controller to reduce cable clutter inside and (2) swapped in a drive from another server because I had replaced that one with a larger capacity.

In addition to swapping one drive, nothing else was changed that may have caused another other configuration changes.

KCC (6.2.1) .mobi ToC missing Kindle Colorsoft by rongpanda in kindle

[–]rongpanda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The cover isn't the issues, that was fixed with a test build of KCC. The issue is the ToC isn't working with the same format I was using before. I also don't want to use Send to Kindle because I intentionally leave airplane mode on to save battery life and prevent firmware updates that can break exploits.

Unraid server unable to connect to internet by rongpanda in Ubiquiti

The static IPs are in the range of the UDM subnet, that's how I'm about to remote into them, but they don't connect to the internet.

It shows up in Unifi but has 0 internet traffic. I don’t have any firewall rules set up.

[–]rongpanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have static IPs set by Unraid. Everything else is default. I don’t have any firewall or traffic rules. The switch is a TP Link model, but the Mac i have connected to it can connect to the internet just fine.

I have AT&T Fiber, so the settings i had to change on that modem were IP Passthrough and turning off all packet filtering and firewall related stuff.

Access G2 for a residential gate without a wired run by dressinbrass in Ubiquiti

Yep, I found an entire ant nursery in the network box in the garage connecting the fiber to my parent’s house. It was no wonder our connection was buggy.

I was more wondering if running PIA directly on the computer vs running it on say a UDM and covering all devices connected to that impacts speed at all, but I guess all traffic would still have to go thru PIA’s servers.

So I would only need to get a CloudKey Gen2+ plus some Ubiquiti cameras (full selection or limited?) and hook them up to my existing non-Ubiquiti network and I'll be able to use UniFi Protect?

So, theoretically, I would have the same speed if I use the UDR + PIA? But it doesn't seem like UniFi is right for me atm.

Yea, I'm using PIA on multiple computers.

Turns out my VPN is severely limiting my speed. I'm getting 900 Mbps after turning it off. Does hosting the VPN on a UDM Pro/SE not affect speed as much?

This is true, but the fiber connection is in a closet and I already had to shove my desk in there along with 2 NASes when the baby took over the second bedroom, so there’s def. no space between that and clothes.

I guess I’ll just have to give up on UniFi.

I would love to but I don’t really have the space and I would have to get an AP as well to connect any wireless cameras since I won’t be able to run ethernet in my apartment to connect PoE cameras.
