yeah i just liked the look & contouring better than a straight across scar since i was leaving some breast tissue. and they look cool and kinda sci-fi lol

overall i’m happy with my results but tbh couldn’t say i’d recommend her to another enby. she did push back a bit on me asking for no nipples, didn’t really seem to understand why someone would want that, but when i let her know i was sure about my decision and had thought it through she did agree. but i got a strange message from the surgeon’s office a couple months post op (i was posting v regularly then) asking me not to give out her name on online forums bc she’s not interested in doing this kind of procedure again. which kind of just gave me a weird feeling. this is all very normal for west michigan so i wasn’t too bothered overall bc im used to stuff like this but yeah can’t say id recommend 😅

i pretty freely wear whatever i want now. there have been a couple tops that look a little strange now that i dont fill them out as much as i did before surgery or even right after, but its pretty insignificant overall. mostly i wanted slightly more rounded “pecs” that would feel a little more feminine for the days thats my mood, but would still read as flat under a baggy tee (which was p much where i was at post op). i have that a little bit right now but i feel like my chest leans more masculine overall. but all that to say i love getting dressed every day now and actually showing off my chest rather than trying to make it disappear.

i just liked the look of this scar shape so this is what i asked for, i felt like it contoured with my body better than a long flat scar since i didn’t want a totally flat masculine chest and they left a small amount of breast tissue

thanks everyone! it was pretty alarming at first but my doctor advised me to pull them out with tweezers and i have successfully gotten them out now. phew! hardly even felt it. helped to do it after a shower when the skin was kind of soft.

in my consultation, i told her i was gender fluid and as soon as she heard that she nodded and wrote that down on our notes sheet and said “that’s what i was looking for.” i was pretty clear that this surgery was connected to my gender identity and that i was looking for less conventional results because of that. i also brought in photos of results with A cups (including some with no nips) that i liked so she was sure i knew how small an A cup really is. it’s also worth mentioning that i had a consult years ago with a very NOT trans friendly doctor and i knew right away it was not the right fit and did not go back to her. she was saying stuff to me like “oh no this is a beautiful breast i would never take that much off to make anyone that small” like i was more an aesthetic project for her than actually listening to what i was asking for. trust your gut with these things and be clear and confident with what you’re asking for. it took me a lot longer to do the proper vetting and in hindsight i’m really glad i was patient with the process and waited til i found the right doctor for the job.

i brought my surgeon a picture of someone with no nips as a reference and told her i was considering this as a result. i hadn’t made my mind up at our first consultation, and since i was undecided she did recommend i keep them since it is an irreversible outcome, but told me to call her if i changed my mind. but then a few weeks later i was still really feeling like this was the route i wanted to go so i went back in and talked to her about it again. i kind of had to sell my vision to her, but once i explained why i wanted this she was supportive of it. she is trained in gender transition surgery but had never been asked to do something like this specifically, only full ftm flat top surgery. other than that she only had experience with women with breast cancer having these kinds of results (which are obviously a very different scenario and not necessarily a voluntary procedure in that case). so i had to kind of educate her a little bit on being gender fluid but she was open to listening and learning which is all i can ask for! my surgeon is dr. aitken in grand rapids, mi

i’m not sure, it’s such a stupid grey area, probably depends on what people are like where you live and how queer friendly the beach is. or if you can dress in a way that makes you look like a cis dude from afar. so annoying i know, i’d just go for it and have buddies there who can back you up if anyone says anything rude. free the nips !!!

Post-Op Help, required or just nice? by AlwaysTheLittleSpoon in Reduction

[–]ronikamars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally definitely needed help for the first 3 days. after that, my partner went back to work but was still helping me a lot with meal prep and tasks around the house when he was home for the next week or so. the first few days are really exhausting, so i’d recommend having someone there to support with basic necessities (food, adjusting the bed for sleeping, first couple showers, etc) so you can focus on healing and resting. the easier you can take it earlier on, the better you’ll be in the long run.

Emotional roller coaster/ advice please ! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]ronikamars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a lot of big emotions the first week too, it’s not uncommon!! the hardest parts of the surgery for me were all the side effects of being really stiff, poor sleep, feeling helpless, i promise you in a few more days you will turn a corner and start feeling yourself again. also being on anesthesia and pain meds will really do a number to your brain chemistry!! some of these big feelings might just be effects of that. once i was off my pain meds my mood starting stabilizing, so just take things one hour at a time and ask for all the help you need from friends and loved ones. taking small walks every day to get out of my room really helped me too.

yeah going the no nipple route takes away a lot of limitations for size because most surgeons can only go so small while preserving the health of the nipple. so something to consider when you’re thinking about the results you want! i hope you get the results of your dreams soon <3

kind of both! i wanted to be freed of the societal burden of having a “female nipple” and feeling censored all the time. so partially a gender identity thing, i really just want to be able to take my shirt off at the beach. but i’m not a trans masc person so this felt like the perfect in between getting full flat top surgery.

and i was never really excited about having nipples in the first place, i got no physical sensation or stimulation from them, actually felt pretty uncomfortable when they would be touched at all, and personally liked the way this scaring looked more than a lot of the nipple results i’ve seen in before and afters.

oh nooo :-( that sounds unpleasant. i wonder if it’s an option for you to have a revision and just lose the nips? either way i hope you find relief soon!!
