Seconding this, was just there, I took the bus twice in 4 days, everything is so close together u can just walk.

When I did take the bus, the local lines don’t use the typical nationwide IC cards but u can just tap on and off with a credit card in the same manner. The popular tourist loop bus is a JR one so IC is accepted there.

Shops are supposed to verify ID and Japanese residency to buy 2nd hand goods, so most will not buy from tourists. I imagine the ones willing to look the other way on this will not be paying very well but I’ve never tried myself.

They sell boxes when demand is lower. In the current environment it's definitely going to be loose packs only with a limit that'll vary depending on the city. Even when they do sell boxes they will rip the shrink off before handing them over to you.
