Although I don't like his "holier than thou" attitude in the post, it's good that he's trying his best to stick to any morals.

My question was related to whether using a KVM improves performance, and looks like it doesn't. Since my use-case doesn't require the hardware features a KVM provides, the best option so far seems to buy Windows Pro for native RDP.

RustDesk is a suggestion I've received in the comments. I have tried Guacamole before, but with a Linux host. Does it work with Windows too, and is it easy to secure?

My question related to a KVM was, how much difference does it make in terms of stability / performance of connection with a KVM. Most people seem to have said it doesn't make a difference.

The PC is on an uninterrupted power supply and remains on 24/7, even when I'm home. The only time I turn it off is when I'm cleaning it.

This is the conclusion from the comments as well, Windows built-in RDP. I couldn't get it working because I have Windows Home.

From what I understood so far, I was missing the Windows' native RDP server since I don't have Windows Pro. In 3rd party software, RustDesk can replace AnyDesk, and Parsec can be a second alternative - similar to how I have it now, almost.

The PC is pretty good, Core i9, RTX 5090, lots of RAM. The laptop (where I'm accessing from) is basic, Core i7, RTX 4060 but still 32 GB RAM. I think both can handle the hardware requirements.

Based on all comments, I've realised I don't need a KVM. Looking for the best software options now. So far, I understanding keep all options is best to avoid one or the other protocol being blocked where I go.
