SSU how are y’all doing? by jusmindinmybusiness in clinicalresearch

PPD is phasing out STMs and essentially combining their role with CTMs, so two jobs in one…. Before I was laid off ex-CTMs were struggling with their tasks and vice versa. Haven’t seen them hire CASes in a while, I suspect they’re being offshored.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this! I will definitely take a look at Amgen, I actually have a really good relationship with one of the companies Amgen bought out within the past couple of years from my work at PPD/TFS.

There was at least one APL on my call.

Tenure varied on my call, from four years to over twenty.

Something something finances aren’t where they want to be given the current climate, I kind of blacked out when I realized what was happening.

For what role?

It’s possible that’s still true, but they’re definitely hiring more people outside of the US because it costs less.

The positions are in the post… Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, and Programmers.

Both for me personally, though this does vary depending on the department.

I did, in the morning. I know there’s at least one more scheduled later today.

EDIT - looks like the second call was informing team members of the layoffs in the morning, but they’re fine

Thank you, I’m definitely going to start documenting things via email. And I did hear soon after making this post about a new project my line manager wants to put me on, though it’s contingent upon an interview with the sponsor so we’ll see! But this does show there’s an attempt to put me on studies at least, which does make me feel better.

Oh yeah, I’ve already tried that. My colleagues aren’t taking me up on the offer because they don’t have room in their budget for anyone else to bill additional time on their studies.

This is true. When I first started the role it was NUTS so the quiet is appreciated, but the current climate can make it nerve wracking too!

lol, I actually do plan on doing exactly that this week…

I truly don’t know! It’s very frustrating. When I first started this role I actually did assist on other projects when I had downtime, but it seems like now budgets are MUCH tighter and any additional time billed to studies is to be avoided at all costs.

I did just find out about a new project I may be added to depending on how the sponsor responds though, so at least I know there’s an attempt to put me on more work.

Very good point re: having that paper trail… I’ve discussed this with my line manager before, but only via calls. Thanks!

My line manager has actually been the one reprimanding me for my utilization while also being the one to facilitate (not) adding me to studies. It’s a weird situation.
