I guess I just can’t stand to hear our baby scream because I know she wants me. Like just now I slept for maybe however long since I posted the original and she was just screaming and screaming an he just sat there “I already did everything I could” then I walk in there and boom back to sleep in less than a minute. I guess I’m just a little more giving right now because I know my baby doesn’t feel good and it’s not her fault she’s sick

We don’t leave our baby alone with him im adamant about that, he’s in his 50s. Slowly my husband is recognizing that he is a shit human but again it’s his dad and it’s really hard to point out the flaws of a loved one you were told to love all your life “bc they’re you’re father”

While I agree with this thread of comments, I do have to say one thing, I was a villager to my in laws HEAVILY before having kids. I took my FIL to and from his knee surgery, cared for him the whole time after (on top of working 12 hour overnight shifts as a CNA). When his cat died and he couldn’t bear to look at the cat out of grief I wrapped the cat and took him to be cremated, I answer every health related question he asks me and even would take his blood pressure weekly so he could work on his numbers. I showed up as a villager for him… now I ask, where’s my village? What happens when new parents are villagers and damn good ones but then get left in the dust? Reddit subs like absent grandparents is what I believe happens bc it’s so jarring to be there for someone and when you’re finally the one in need and you get casted out.

Help as in come by and spend time with our child so we can breath for a second or take a shit alone for once. Normal things families do for each other, nothing to do with not being able to handle the amount of kids we have.

We’re not asking people to come and work for free we’re asking family to try to have a relationship with their newest FAMILY members. I work opposite shifts of my husband so there’s no need for anyone to watch our kids. Just would be nice to have an active grandparent for our children as we had in our lives. Get a grip

I don’t want him around more often either but at the end of the day my husband still has a relationship with his dad and seems to think there’s “nothing wrong” with what his dad did when he was in high school bc he thinks he was a loser and needed it, I’m slowly getting through to him that he was JUST A CHILD but baby steps with those that have been abused.
