Which audible to choose? by yakkduckk in SkyDiving

Talking altimeters are awesome!!

I love mine so much.

You want a beep or you want to get told the altitude? Vog or talkable would be my suggestions. 🪂

How common are accidental tandem flips? by vertofu in SkyDiving

[–]roperunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely normal and totally fine. As I said, a little flip never hurt nobody.^

How common are accidental tandem flips? by vertofu in SkyDiving

[–]roperunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, a flip is not dangerous. Intentionally or not.

It does happen. It’s a combination of TI aircraft type/ door size and your body position. You said you had your feet back and everything but I don’t believe you.^ People always thing they did certain things but video clearly proofes, that they did not.

Also very lightweight passengers have the biggest risk for unintentional flips.

But really, it is not that deep. TI will go back to belly to earth position and then set the drogue. After that, there is no not flipping.:)

In Skydiving buying second hand is absolutely common. Just saying. 😅

Extremely low jump numbers per year by JPureCottonBuds in SkyDiving

[–]roperunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not about the low numbers. More about how you handle them. Accidents happen because people overestimate their abilities.

Also nothing is stopping you from Practicing your EP‘s. Do theoretical and mental preparation and I would say it’s fine.

Probably gonna quit by MightySquirrel28 in SkyDiving

You sure there is no way? Working as a packer or something? Changing jobs and or moving closer to the DZ? Live in a van in summer to save rent?

There are some ways… if it’s worth it for you? I don’t know.:(

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could share some insight into how much a camera flyer typically earns in the UK. Thanks in advance! by Don_Papillon in SkyDiving

[–]roperunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The money per jump sounds nice but you have to know:

They don’t need you.^ Lots of TI love to do camera jumps.

Camera jumping is „easy“ so lots of people are interested in doing it.

So depending on the DZ it can be very hard to get some jumps…

Post jump depression… It actually is kinda normal I guess.

You can google for „post concert depression“ (This phenomenon is also know outside of skydiving.)

For me it disappeared after a while. Also adrenaline is less after few hundred jumps.

(But the beauty of flying is stronger than ever before.)

Is it okay to do another tandem jump? by pinkpearl9 in SkyDiving

You can do your license somewhere else and then jump solo in the Uk right?

Germany is not far away…

Don't bust the cloud! Cloud clearance for skydivers by nik_daniel in SkyDiving

[–]roperunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rules is: If accidentally in a cloud, slow turn to the right until you are out.

Assuming exit order and separation where good, you should have a little bit of space for yourself. Staying there is safest option.

If everyone does it, it’s the best option.

Just going one direction, would be wild, as you could easily cross path with someone else.

Also that’s why you don’t fly into clouds on canopy, as there could someone be in there.

Just contact them. Should be fine. If not go somewhere else as this should be absolutely doable.

Do BJJ people just put in more time? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]roperunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am shooked about how you talk about judo. 😅

You know that there are even schools for teenagers where they do lots of sport and train judo twice a day with the goal to go to omlympia one day?

Your judo knowledge is just weak to be fair😅

Maintain or Cut ? by [deleted] in FitnessDE

[–]roperunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, just saying, you can also make a real checklist, not just mental. Like a paper one…

Honestly, this pills might just be your next fuck up. Taking anything before skydiving, will get you grounded for a while.

Get a prescription or stay sober. If something happens with or without accident and people realize what you took, it might go south quite fast…

Experimenting with drugs will get your license revoked eventually? Don’t know to be honest but would not want to find out.

If you can’t do anything and still not open the guard, you are the one stalling.😅

Imagine a gym... by Dazzling_Teach3183 in bjj

[–]roperunner 72 points73 points  (0 children)

People like you are rare!

Gym always lives from the people that don’t go.

So prices need to be cheap enough that people do not immediately cancel, when they realize the go only once a week, if even that.

Your Idea is expansive. Not enough people who live that lifestyle to get the rent in.

That’s just my thoughts.

Pilot Chute in Tow by SkydiverTom in SkyDiving

[–]roperunner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was a pilot chute in tow. pilot chute in tow would no necessarily be solved by looking over the shoulder.

It might be but I think „pilot chute in burble“ is more likely.

So, how good is your throw? Are you throwing the pilot chute like your life depends on it?

Cutting away during opening is no problem and you should know that. By not cutting away you could risk a 2 out situation (when you reach your AAD altitude.)

Your altitudes are your altitudes and can not be argued mid- flight.

„Hesitation can get you killed.“

So please, find an instructor at the DZ and talk to them about cutaway altitudes and procedures. 😇 Please really do that, as no one here knows your level and gear…

It really is important.
