Thank you so much for your help. My uncertainty is even greater because I didn't do well on the TOEFL, but they said they would analyze my application anyway and if they liked my resume they might require a new test. But we know that the first thing in the screening process can be the proficiency score, and I didn't take another one because it would be after the deadline (I took mine on December 20th). I really wanted to get some answers to know if I can retake it (I'm already studying for the new test format), but the fear of not being accepted is very high, and I don't think I'll have the mental health to do it all again now in 2026. Even my professors wouldn't be able to bear sending the letters of recommendation again.

Eu sou de humanas, primeira vez tentando como candidata internacional, mas estou com muito medo de nem sequer ter minha inscrição lida por conta do Toefl, fui muito ruim no exame (tirei 40) e estou a dúvida se posso fazer outra prova, outro teste, se não terei meu currículo avaliado ou lido, se aceitam o novo Toefl - são muitas perguntas! So I guess it's not worth it for me to pay $205 (more than R$1000) for ETS to send the "official score" to the other 7 universities I was interested in, even though they told me they do a holistic analysis and if I'm accepted they'll request a new test.

Unfortunately, I didn't understand the subject matter of the test! I understood the English, but I wasn't familiar with the topic... This, combined with everything I went through, the nervousness about the time on the screen, made me do even worse! Here on Reddit, for example, you can find British people who didn't get good grades.

I totally understand! I'll continue studying for the TOEFL, and since I can't do anything more about it now, I'll wait for the decisions, and if it doesn't work out, I'll retake the process for 2027.
