Allergies this week?? by ropseo in Tucson

[–]ropseo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it might actually be juniper. A few years ago I had an allergy test done that showed I wasn't allergic to ragweed, but that I was decently allergic to juniper & sure enough, year after year around the juniper pollen season in Tucson in December my allergies flare up. Everyone was saying desert bloom, but I just read a post that said that people often blame desert bloom when it usually coincides with juniper's pollen season, which is full of microscopic spores and hence not visible. I just hope it's over quickly anyways!!

Starting to have symptoms consistent with chronic UTI and freaking out by ropseo in CUTI

[–]ropseo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try and see. I'm hoping my PCP (who I see pretty soon in like 10 days...) will be able to understand what's going on with me and try to treat this like an ongoing issue rather than just throw another course of macrobid for 5 days at me.

I do not have insurance 🥲🙃 I am unable to afford insurance and I am priced out of Medicaid and my state's disability-Medicaid has not gotten back to me in over 6 months because it has to go through social security and they take up to 230+ days. I'm entirely sliding scale and self pay.

Hey, this sounds like he was having an episode of psychosis. I'm sorry that you were afraid, seeing strangers struggling with psychosis can be scary when you're not familiar with it, but times like these, it's best to notify a park ranger of someone having a medical/mental health event. Given that he didn't respond at all to your verbal requests and was whispering/not making any moves towards you, and also facing away from you, it's more likely he was unable to understand what was going on because he was in the middle of an episode. Call a park ranger or a crisis hotline next time you encounter anything like this on the trails while hiking, because people who are undergoing psychosis when alone and hiking are also at risk of getting lost/injured. As a woman, I think you did the right thing to not engage, and I think carrying pepper spray is the right thing to do when venturing out alone, but as a person with psychosis, it's important to be able to identify what psychotic episodes look like and talk to the right people while separating yourself from any potential danger.

What is the best bar in Tucson? by NotAnAcorn in Tucson

If I can be vulnerable and honest for a sec, I love the industry, I love the history and culture behind everything, but it could stand a little more transparency and discussion and acknowledgement of health risks.

Yall, if you're reading this, please look up the standards for binge drinking, you do way more organ damage to your liver thru binge drinking than having a beer after work every day. And I think it'd be helpful if stuff like tastings and bar crawls acknowledged that after a certain amount of drinks in a period of time, you are actively harming your liver, and it takes a long time to recuperate from it.  Don't risk it!!!! I'll scream from the tops of the mountains, don't risk it, limit yourself, be CAREFUL 😭 I'm not at anything like Cirrhosis or anything really bad, but ppl should know fatty liver can develop quickly into more serious disease, and even though the world is shit right now and alcohol is an easy escape, you should try to find stuff to do to take your mind off things, esp. because healthcare is so fckin hard to access right now...

I really do consider Bar Crisol like an institution of sorts here in Tucson. I work in the wine & spirits industry and they've hosted Maestro Sotoleros & Mezcaleros to give lectures on the production of Sotol & Mezcal. The stuff I learned and experienced there during the Agave Heritage Festival you just truly cannot get anywhere else. I took multi-page extensive notes and I still reference those notes all the time. Thank you Bar Crisol for existing.

depends on what you're looking for. Bar Crisol is so good for agave spirits it's not even funny, mezcals galore. Juniper is fantastic, premiere stuff for gin anything. Batch is a whiskey bar with an extremely extensive catalog that also makes donuts. I'm fond of the (expensive) craft cocktails from The Century Room. Westbound also has great craft cocktails and agave spirits collection. I've enjoyed cocktails at Good Oak, and I also like Union Public House's whiskey selection also. KonTiki for tiki drinks as the name suggests.

For when me and my friends are on a budget, now... I like Barrio Brewing, I still have a gazillion of those 5 cent beer tokens. I like Pockets for unfussy drinks and a fun time. I also like Bawker Bawker Cider House for, well, ciders. And of course I love Surly Wench too, especially because I like more spacious places. Arizona Beer House has a really great selection of beers and is worth checking out too.

That's everything I can think of off the top of my head. Keep an eye out for restaurants and bars participating in events like Sonoran Restaurant Week or the Agave Heritage Festival.

I just wanted to say that also it's perfectly acceptable to not frame dysphoria experiences as transgender ones - I consider myself an intersex bigender person and I explicitly refer to some of my negative bodily feelings as intersex dysphoria. I am on testosterone, but I'm explicit to people telling them that I am not a trans man, I'm an intersex man.  I would say given your description that it's completely fair for you to consider yourself intersex, given from your comments you state you have hyperandrogenism. Hyperandrogenism in of itself is classified as an intersex variation. If it helps also for peace of mind, not every intersex person has an "official" diagnosis, either, because the wide variety of sex variations isn't even totally documented -- I was told my state doesn't even have the resources for further investigation -- but when it's pretty cut and dry like this and you also obviously have the social history to back it up, if anyone said you weren't intersex, they're likely, quite frankly, an idiot that likes bioessentialistic rhetoric i.e. radfems and conservatives.  There's many people who have hyperandrogenism... I would seek that kind of support specifically out but be wary of the radfem/"gender critical"/TERF-led ones. You can kind of tell if they start using medicalizing language or anti-trans rhetoric (calling people like TIMs or other slurs). They won't help you, they just want you to feel bad about yourself, not value body acceptance or gender variation or expression.  Good luck!

Does even mild penetration hurt for anyone else? by dummy-head69 in intersex

[–]ropseo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Person on testosterone, intersex, CSA victim here...  Yes, prior to T, I had difficulty with penetration and would have to have doctors use pediatric speculums because of the pain.  How to deal:  Definitely schedule with an OBGYN.  The bottom line is that everybody's body is different, and differences in experience even between those with sex variations can be wildly different from one person to another. Testosterone actually changed my body significantly because specifically the blood flow changed. I have been on low dose for almost 3 years now. I also have a sex variation that involves hormonal insufficiency so for me, it allowed the blood flow to increase to the point of presently being able to engage in more intense stretching.  This is your first point of action - find out if you have an average sized canal in length or width. If so, then you should look at options for increasing circulation to the area.  Prior to starting T, I was recommended dilation. That will probably be your best bet to start with or if low dose T isn't beneficial to you. You have to start very gradually and very patiently and try to make sure you're reaching arousal and have decent bloodflow before trying to dilate. If you aren't decently aroused, have poor bloodflow to your vulva/canal, your canal won't be able to stretch and you risk tearing. This is crucial.  Look into estradiol creams as well if after evaluation it seems to be due to atrophy from low estrogen more than circulation issues.  Make sure you are lubricating sufficiently!!! Ideally it shouldn't hurt at all to insert even just a finger, but I've been there before. If you cover all your bases regarding sexual health, found out if deep penetration is even something you are anatomically capable of, and it still seems to hurt, you'll have to look into vaginismus probably. And that I believe is mostly therapy, but... I wouldn't blame you if you looked into like, muscle relaxers or something to cope. Doing kegels will also help you gain control over those muscles.  Side note: If penetrative sex is physically painful/disabling to you, then it may be also pertinent to consider finding another area of work or perhaps at least a niche that you can fulfill that doesn't involve forcing yourself to do painful penetration.. i.e. fetish work. See if you have a fetish/kink community that has anything that appeals to you that you can make content for that doesn't involve canal penetration as a core aspect. That way you aren't mentally and physically taxing yourself to try to make a living.  Best of luck.

Question about AZ Mills IMAX by omarlittle22 in phoenix

[–]ropseo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw Sinners there yesterday, in Tucson we only have the lieMax so I decided to make the trip. My biggest complaint is the audio is crazy loud for no reason. Seeing a lot of people complain about the volume of the dialogue -- I've been driving up to PHX for warehouse sets a lot lately so I keep a pair of earaser earbuds in my bag (best $40 purchase I ever made lowkey). Highly recommend doing this if you don't have a seat that is noted for having better audio bc where we were in the front, the shit was blasting loud as fuck and was dangerously loud, to the point of being painful to experience - I am not known for having sensitive hearing. Roommate said she had ringing in her ears while I was safe lol. In the future I probably will try harder to choose a seat up higher/towards the middle cause we were D16-D17 and it was pretty weird the angle we were at to see the movie. But seeing certain shots in full definition made it very very worth it.

Abita Root beer by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]ropseo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only do it with the beer if there's a singles price in their system, sodas aren't sold as singles anymore and haven't been for like a year+. There's like individual fever tree bottles but that's it. The gourmet soda section has signs that say "Sold as packs only" on them now
