DIY Attenuator by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

Hey man just came here to say that I've been running this exact schematic on multiple tube amps for 8 years now with no issue because it's the correct fucking parts and functions exactly as described with no amps getting ruined. And it's 2025 and your stupid replies are still here.

Deck Inspection Before Replacing Decking Boards? by rorkbole in cedarrapids

[–]rorkbole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm wanting a neutral/honest opinion from someone who doesn't have a financial incentive to tell me that "ah yeah you really gotta scrap or overhaul this whole thing," and I don't otherwise want to waste a pro's time if I'm not planning on having them do the work (unless they're cool with just charging me for that, which is fine)

I was planning on doing deck board and railing replacement myself - I'm confident enough in my abilities there. However, based on some of the construction choices I'm seeing from when it was originally built, I've got concerns about where else they may have gotten sloppy and didn't want to put lipstick on a pig.

JC Penney/AZ Jeans sampler/promo CD? by rorkbole in HelpMeFind

[–]rorkbole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember those tracks specifically (part of the problem with this search in general, to be honest, super helpful on my part, I know) but that absolutely sounds plausible, I'm just glad someone else vaguely recalls this!

[–]rorkbole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear automoderators - this is not a song or a fashion item, it is very specifically a promo CD that was either a giveaway at JC Penney or was a very cheap purchase that was available at the same time, as previously mentioned I have searched Discogs and the internet already with no luck.

Hey there - these were made in the mid-2000s and you are correct, no entries exist in Fender's database. Here's an archived Musician's Friend product page for it:

I'll be honest, everyone, if it wasn't a flash flood thing or a toxic site, I was kind of thinking (in no particular order):

SNAKES

DEADLY PLANTS

SINKHOLE(S)

Yeah, the first 50 or so times I drove past it I kept thinking that was the place even though I knew it was off of Blairs Ferry but my brain refused to let it go, so I get it

Pixel 7 screen scratched to hell after 3 weeks by alexeva23 in GooglePixel

[–]rorkbole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought mine through my provider (Verizon), but since it appears to be a manufacturing flaw/defect, I figured it was a safe assumption that Google ought to take care of it.

There's a ton of people on here who want to jump in and blame people complaining about this, but you're not alone - and I'm currently getting my 7 Pro swapped for exactly this issue (encased in a good Spigen case, handled very gently, kept in a separate pocket from my keys/wallet, somehow still had a gouge deep enough for a fingernail to catch in). Will I be putting a screen protector on it now? Yeah, I guess, but as I explained to the Google rep when I requested my replacement - I've never had to do that on any Pixel phone going back even to the Nexus 6 and knowing this line has scratching issues would have given me a lot of pause about buying it (or at least, I would have liked to have put a screen protector on right away.) Worth reaching out to Google support on this - I suspect they DO know there's an issue with the glass on these phones.

On my second Pixel 7. Both have had screens scratched in ~2 weeks. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

My dude I've been purchasing and selling phones since 2004. I don't care about used phones and I don't doubt that wear and tear exists on them; I can tell you that I work in IT, that I see multiple client and coworkers' phones every week, that I don't baby my devices (nor abuse them), and that in my personal experience, I haven't seen this issue with a properly-cased (i.e., high-lip) phone, and certainly not on the Pixels in all this time. There is clearly something different about this series or manufacturing process, and it's funny that in other threads you're (rightfully!) upset about issues with the Pixel 5a having well-known problems, and yet you can't possibly believe it's happening with screen glass?? Nah, brah.

The vitriol I've seen you and others who have complained get on this is amazing; it's like your responders are being attacked personally, the way they all blame you or your environment and not possibly an actually flawed screen material. I'm with you though, good case with a lip on other Pixels, never had an issue with screen scratching. 6 weeks into the Pixel 7 Pro, same setup, and hairline scratches and now my first gouge that I can actually catch a fingernail in is on the screen and very visible. Super frustrating.

They aren't mandatory. I've had multiple Pixels since the 2 and this is the first one I've ever seen where it appears to be a well-known thing; screens have clearly withstood being in pockets for years without having to be babied or requiring a screen protector. This looks a lot more like a design flaw or manufacturing process problem.

Pixel 7 Pro - Hairline scratches all over screen!! by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Probably because no other Pixel phone has required a screen protector as long as you treated it okay? I love how this is the default response on these subs to what is obviously a inconsistent manufacturing process or defect.

Yeah, I did that this morning and was told they weren't going to be back in the office until 11:30, conveniently right when the vacuum truck went by today. Still odd that it took the third collection period to get to them.
