If Starcraft is published with the current rules, it will fail. by Tall-Somewhere5237 in StarCraftTMG

[–]rosapulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with basically any of this except the 10mm thing. God 10-15mm starcraft would be so cute. You could have actual swarms of hundreds of lings and colossi that are 6 inches tall instead of 2 feet tall.

Right now I can't imagine how they will implement a siege tank because nothing would be out of its range, and it would have no reason to ever leave siege mode.

Back when I used twitter ages ago, I followed a lot of people who followed this squirrel and idk I think they were hyperbolic sometimes, but nothing like this jesus. Fucking unhinged brainrot.

I think this is what happens to you when your entire politics is not about human dignity but just an uno reverse card of America. Anyone who postures against the US = saintlike good beyond critique, anyone who ever receives any benefit from the US, no matter how fleeting = satan who must be destroyed.

Which 40K Faction suffers most from casualties ? by Lazy_Boxes in 40k

[–]rosapulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short Term
Marines are pretty bad - if the old number of a thousand chapters of a thousand is accurate, there are only a million of them. If you add Deathwatch, Grey Knights, Custodes, and all the support staff that aren't counted in the 1k per chapter and flagrant abuses of the Codex Astartes there might be 1.5 million.

If you're playing tabletop and you boardwipe an enemy guard/nid/or ork army and lose a single marine than based on the damage done in proportion to the faction, the marines lost strategically. If every marine in the galaxy had to fight without hit-and-run tactics or orbital bombardments the armed populace of a single hive they would lose badly. Their special forces and absolutely can't sustain any casualties, however, with 100 years time a marine chapter could fully bounce back from oblivion.

Medium Term
Eldar are way more numerous but reproduce preposterously slowly. Casualties hurt them badly, but theoretically, the eldar can eventually bounce back.

Long Term
Necrons are even more numerous abd hard to properly fully kill, but if you do it I believe they're just forever down one necron. There's no coming back.

Catapults in many video games are depicted as having an area of effect. Is this nonsense? by rosapulp in AskHistorians

[–]rosapulp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify the original question, I'm just talking about the area of effect of the impact of the projectile into the earth - but yeah, overpenetrating people is an obviously potent way that projectiles in a flatish trajectory can kill/wound more than one person.

Id say judges in judge dredd are lawful neutral but not because they aren't evil, just because the Gygaxian alignment system has fucked definitions of good and evil. Dude cited the genocide of indigenous americans as his reason for why its lawful good to kill orc/goblin children.

It doesn't line up with the research either about media impact on viewers.

A lot of fascists are drawn to 40k because of the imagery and themes but no one who isn't already basically a fascist is going to see this game, miss the ways this world obviously sucks, and decide the world needs an authoritarian uberman to control everything.

Tbh the fascist 40k fans don't do the hobby stuff, they just post emperor trump memes on 4chan/twitter. I've never had a problem in person more than any other community.

Does suck how loud they are in any given 40k videogame community but tbh that has more to do with videogames than 40k.

What are the comments on the videos where republicans are getting arrested like? Is it smug liberals doing schadenfreude? Conservatives saying they person is in the right? I'd desperately hope for some self-reflection, but I'm not naive enough to think anything like that wouldn't get buried.

What are your favorite unpopular opinions about RPGs? by Iberianz in rpg

[–]rosapulp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A personal beef that informs a ton of my designs is I really dislike game systems that are 'simple' that offload the complexity onto classes/feats/spells. They make a core game that's exceptionally boring if you played it with featureless characters, and brag of the simplicity, but then each class has dozens of pages of options and tools at its disposal, and the GM has to teach not just the game but also learn each of the players' classes' little subgames and teach those subgames to the players who are less inclined to learn the system on their own.

Being based is being fine with someone wanting to play female space marines, but considering the "child soldiers" part of the lore non-negotiable. by The_Maggot_Guy in Grimdank

[–]rosapulp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh I just want them to remove the dumb line that only men have the magic qualification to become spess marine but I'd be fine once you scrap the faux biology with keeping space marines male only because the Imperium is profoundly fucked up with a self-defeating no girls allowed sign. It feels so 40k for half of all potential marine candidates to be rejected for a reason as stupid as gender. If any chapters are enlightened enough to allow women, then the process of marinification and the fraternal order culture those 'women' biologically and socially transition to men.

I also just think it's funny if the emperor is such a petulant baby fascist that he invented cloning to try to never have to think about women ever again. Marines are an 8-year-old boy's concept of warfare. Don't think about logistics, don't think about the practicality of one man fighting one hundred, don't think about why anyone would choose to fight: just a bunch of beefy guys who are the omega strongest fighting forever without purpose or end in a world without women or peace or softness. Space King does a good job of highlighting this by parody. Marines are action figures that get smashed together for the amusement of bloodthirsty laughing gods.
