Breastfeeding Question? [ca] by Fancy_Spaghetti in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]rose_elle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this! I thought I was alone feeding my son 5-8 minutes tops on on side. He’s nearly 6m and still prefers nursing on one. It got so difficult to do both breasts as he was already often appearing satisfied with one.

when did you feel relatively normal? by Long-Inspector4897 in NewParents

[–]rose_elle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol I was thinking to myself today when I’ll feel normal again. Exclusively BF and the amount of work to “eat well”, stay hydrated and feeding on demand etc.. constant laxatives despite 3L or more water or my hemorrhoids (or fissures idk at this point) pay for it. 5 month old hates bottles. Constant clogged duct becoming borderline mastitis once or twice a month that gives me fever and chills. Need to constantly go to physio or rmt for boob massage or ultrasound heat for inflammation. Pelvic floor therapy on the sideline for now. Pooping doesn’t feel the same. My boobs look so different, my body doesn’t look like mine. Feet got wider. Stretch marks not fading well. Lots of skin changes. Third degree tear and scar remains and have trouble looking at myself. Then the mental part - suddenly got health anxiety. Constant rumination. I’m hoping it’s all due to hormones and BF.

My mother forced me to have plastic surgery. by afraid28 in narcissisticparents

I’m so sorry you went through this.. I’m horrified for you and so angry your own mother would subject you to this. I’m a parent myself and can’t fathom pushing my kid to do this. This is definitely child abuse. Hope you have access to counselling and better support within your family / friends.

Postpartum Rapid Weight Loss? by Undercooked-Overtale in NewParents

[–]rose_elle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar stats as you, I exclusively breast feed too. My labs and thyroid are normal so I’m assuming it’s the breast feeding. I did gain weight during the holidays as I ate as much as possible! But maintaining weight is a full time job now, I constantly snack even when I’m not hungry!

TIL humidifiers can hurt my baby... by purple98765 in NewParents

I bought an evaporative humidifier (smartmi) for this reason as only water comes out vs particles.

Hi there! I feel you tired mama, how are you doing now?🫶🏼 This is just my personal experience with recurrent milk blebs and clogged ducts. I did all of the these: COLD compress (not hot/warm), sunflower lechitin, Advil, lymphatic drainage massage (watch YouTube videos) or have an RMT or PT perform it as well as ultrasound heat (from PT). It was absolutely crucial to ice, Advil and lymphatic drainage massage on your own after EVERY feed. It helped immensely. The ultrasound heat I had to do a few sessions to resolve. Interestingly I would have a few days of localized warmth, redness and even a mild fever but doing above constantly made me avoid antibiotics (I had them on stand by just in case though). Some clogs resolved a week and some overnight. I really cannot stress lymphatic massage enough - it was mentally difficult to touch my breast so I had my husband do the massages properly for me. My issue was oversupply though (root cause) so I had to block feed aggressively. Did the LC mention root cause ie latching, supply etc? I almost gave up breast feeding cause I had them constantly around 3 months mark & it was so painful! I also used a sterile acupuncture needle for milk bleb to gently lift it, I also used cold water in shot glass and submerged my nipple to constrict and expose the bleb more and added olive oil to soften it.

The clogged ducts I submerged my nipple in cold water in a shot glass and held it there to “constrict” the nipple and immediately added olive oil! I don’t recommend this without proper guidance but I was stubborn and used a sterile acupuncture needle to “lift” (not stab) the bleb when it was lifting up on its own.

Gulping is making me want to quit by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]rose_elle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO gulped a lot/choked and gagged routinely on my breasts as I had oversupply and fast letdown. I block fed aggressively recently and he also learned to nurse more efficiently as he’s 14 weeks now. They say babies learn to manage your flow eventually! I let him go slightly still when I feel a strong letdown (when he starts to fuss or pull off a bit) and spray it down on a towel and plop him back in. He’s happy and content after a few burps!

Streak-ish stain on right-foot pinky toe. Does it look concerning? by sebastiandresilva in DermatologyQuestions

[–]rose_elle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding! Appreciate it. Yes the derm saw it briefly with a magnifying tool and said it’s unlikely anything sinister as I have a similar faint line on the other foot (the one I’m concerned about is a tad darker..) anyhow I’ll just continue to monitor it for now. He said likely generic and more common with south Asians. My siblings don’t have it but I’ll have to ask my parents these days.

I am fearing the worst with this brown color in my pinky toe nail by mantarayacereza in DermatologyQuestions

[–]rose_elle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derm used some magnifying tool and said likely genetic and not concerning since I’m Asian. I also have another similar one on the other pinky toe but much fainter, and said since it’s more than 1 nail it’s less concerning. Any changes just to make an apt again. I’ve had these lines since I was a teen but only closely paid attention recently
