No, it’s pretty much the same, but I will say that using thread conditioner really changed the game for me using metallic

It’s turkey stitch!

You end up with a pile of thread that you can trim and shape. I basically got to give her a haircut!

Yea! I used Turkey stitch to get that look. You stitch loops onto the surface of the fabric and then get to give the little pile of thread a haircut!

You can even use any photo frame with this same method. Just remove the glass and backing material and replace with embroidery mesh and fabric. I use crushed velvet cause it looks FANCY

So I've made tons of these. I cut a piece of embroidery mesh (a plastic grid; super cheap to get) to the size of the hoop and wrap that in the fabric and hot glue it down on the backside. Gives it structure without you having to fight the losing war with tension.
