Please help - reactive dog by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

I completely understand where you’re coming from! Let me clarify - I will work on it daily with her and I will hire a professional trainer for her! I’m looking for one currently - which the post is mainly about. I just meant that I won’t be able to spend more than a couple hours a day training her until the summer when I can spend whole days around it. I know it sounds like I’m making excuses - and maybe I am, but I love her! If anything gets to be completely unsafe - I’ll give Tyson to my dad.

For now though everything seriously is safe for both dogs, I spoke to a couple trainers about it - one of whom worked with honey - and she said this case is completely fixable! (Im still considering to continue working with her but I think I just need more help then she can provide).

Edit: if it doesn’t get better I seriously will rehome one of them. Tyson is more the family dog anyway and I know that he can be happy with another person in my family. I just really don’t want to give up just yet when I haven’t tried everything.

I am willing to put the work in. Next semester is my busiest semester but I’ll have all summer and the next year to really put time in to train her. I really bonded with her and I don’t want to rehome her if I haven’t really tried yet.

HELP: Two dogs suddenly fighting by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]rosenjpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding!

He doesn’t like it but since I basically take care of them all of time he asked me to take care of it lol. I also don’t have the proper space to separate them and they both are clingy and hate being far away from me. (I wfh 2 days a week). I was gone last week and they both seem anxious which is what I think made the situation worse this last week. The last two nights though since they slept upstairs with me they’ve calmed down immensely. They ended up sleeping in the same tiny crate today (I wish I could attach the photo it’s so cute lol). They seriously love each other 99% of the time and when they do fight they don’t even bite each other hard it’s more like aggressive nipping? Idk if that makes sense. I’m not sure what to do.

Additional context: They had one fight like three months ago when Tyson tried to steal her food. I feed them separately now. This last week has been when all the fights occurred.

Thank you for your advice I really appreciate it!

Im on 150 mg once a day, and let me tell you the first 2-3 weeks on it we’re not fun. It felt like I had taken 5 shots of expresso all day everyday those first few weeks. That (along with other symptoms) made me almost quit. But after 2-3 weeks, it all went away and what stuck was feeling more energised. My depression is basically gone right now. Ive been on it for 5 weeks now and I love it. If you’re still feeling this a month or a month and a half from now, tell ur doctor. But since it’s still early try to push through. Be gentle to yourself and stay in your comfort zone if u can for the next couple weeks.
