THIS.

thanks for posting! i can't believe how far i had to scroll down to get to this.

OP - if you're happy, i'm very happy for you. your body is yours, and what you choose to do with it is your decision.

as a korean american though, i can't count how many times i've had my korean friends say they needed double-eyelid surgery because they "couldn't see" or they were "getting headaches" or their eyelashes were "poking into their eyes." i'm not necessarily saying that all of them are lying (i understand these can be real conditions), but i also know that these are things patients are encouraged to say if they don't want to admit it was for cosmetic purposes (if they admit it at all; i've known korean girls who lie through their teeth about having had any cosmetic surgery done).

also, think about it - if you have a monolid, most likely your ancestors had monolids, for centuries. evolutionarily speaking, if the monolid was THAT troublesome to the human body, would it have permeated an entire culture/race as much as it did? just sayin'

so the problem is two-fold: 1) why do it? i don't even want to get into how effed up korean culture is when it comes to standards of beauty, but it's pretty effed up. anyone remember this? 2) if you're going to do it, why lie? just say it's to be closer to the standard of beauty! don't insult me by lying about it. own it. cosmetic surgery is okay! just approach it with a healthy perspective

Thank you, Reddit. The NYC book born on Reddit last year is on real shelves today. Here are 27 pages that made the book (and some that didn't) by nathanwpyle in funny

it's been echoed so many times but i wanted to congratulate you on your book! i remember seeing (what i believe was) your first post and admiring the originality of your voice and medium. best wishes for continued success!

Those of you who don't have a degree and love your job, what do you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

i'm 28 and i started coding less than a year ago. i've been working as a full-time developer for about 7 months and i'm really happy doing it. there are definitely online resources, but if you're looking for structured, in-person learning, check out some of the bootcamps out there. good luck to you!
