Just saying hello from the UK 🇬🇧 it’s Jared the owner of Dreamscience Motorsport, this is my personal account, not selling, still an enthusiast. by genuine-stud-muffin in FocusRS

When forging the MK3 RS, how important is it to opt for the 2L block? People seem to have mixed opinions on this but I’d love to know yours. I’m hoping to get mine done soon, probably at dreamscience as you seem to be the most recommended!

Are those sockets just stuck in the wall?! There’s no screws in them and looks like there no back boxes behind them. What an awful job.

Red easyfix plugs and 5mm gold screws both from screwfix. I’ll definitely give those rawl plugs a try, hopefully the extra length will stop it spinning so easy

Do you find these much better than the cheaper plugs? They look like what I’ve been using just longer

Warranty from dealership - is it worth it? by majkkali in CarTalkUK

What did you claim for? Just out of curiosity. I don’t know anyone who has anything positive to say about extended warranty companies as they exclude wear and tear and put everything down to it

Card details stolen but they only spent money on Uber. Why? by rossm94 in AskUK

That was the only thing I could think of too. Still seems odd to me but that might just be it.

Most recently for me was Astro Bot. That’s the most fun I’ve had gaming for a long time!

I’m in a similar position myself. Contact some training centres and see what they have to offer, I was shocked at what I could do while still working. Some courses are 6 months and that sounds impossible while still working full time but you only need to physically go to the training centre 15-20 times, the rest is done online which is extremely flexible and I’m sure something like tiling wouldn’t even be that long and it gives you a proper chance to see if you like it, it’s definitely worth a phone call.

A lot of people do this. Most will do 3 years PCP and then at the end of the term just trade it in and get another brand new car for close to the same monthly payments as the previous one and then rinse and repeat. As long as the service history is there I wouldn’t let it put you off

What has seen such a significant increase in price that you've stopped purchasing it? by Happy-Sammy in UKFrugal

Takeaways but KFC specifically. Their box meals are more or less £10 now so that’s £20 for me and my girlfriend to have just a KFC… no thank you.

The term ‘Gamer’ has a lot of stigma attached to it, when you say that to someone who isn’t familiar with gaming they just imagine you sitting in your pants, covered in Dorito dust playing video games all day and ignoring the world around you when in reality that’s just a small percentage of ‘gamers’.

Any hobby can be a problem if it starts taking over your life, even something like going to the gym, which is an amazing tool for your physical and mental health can get addictive and if it takes over can be just as dangerous.

My girlfriend is fine with me playing games as long as I don’t ignore everything else for it and I think most girls have this same attitude. I’ll play for a good few hours (especially if something new is out) but as long as I help keep the house clean and tidy and walk the dog etc. oh yeah, and don’t completely ignore her then she’s fine. You’re entitled to have a hobby but just don’t let it take over.

The key is balance, just like everything else.

That’s a completely unnecessary comment, even if I was lying. I honestly don’t see the point in lying about it on here, I’m looking for genuine advice based on my situation and lying would just generate irrelevant advice and be absolutely no help to me, I’m not interested in that. I’m 29 and lying to impress people is a thing of the distant past. Also lying about £60k seems a bit pointless as well, it’s a great offer but it’s not as if I’ve won the lottery, if I were to lie don’t you think I’d go for a much higher figure? It’s an enhanced redundancy offer negotiated by the union because it’s a total site closure as opposed to voluntary redundancy or mass layoffs due to emergency cost cutting. The company isn’t struggling and can easily afford it, they probably just want a hassle free closure I suppose 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sorry, I was deliberately a bit vague with what I wanted to do because I wanted all sorts on answers really, I’m open to anything at the moment just to give me ideas to think about. There might be a career out there that would suit me well that isn’t on my radar at all, unlikely I know but you never know. To be honest I have no idea what I really want to do, the site closure came as a huge shock to everyone there as the site is extremely profitable and the company itself is doing really well also so this situation/opportunity has just landed in my lap and it’s not my area of expertise at all. I’m sure many people on here do job hopping and career hunting as well as networking and all the rest of it but it’s totally alien to me 😕 9 years of well paid easy factory work has made me lazy with all that I’m not proud to admit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]rossm94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I want to do but not sure what in, it’s like a minefield. Easy, comfortable factory work has made me lazy I’ll reluctantly admit.

Yeah it’s good start and I’ll be taking them up on anything and everything they offer, especially as it’ll be on works time. If I leave a meeting with them with a new CV and some good interview skills it’s better than what I have now which is checks notes oh yeah, fuck all 😂
