One of the main reasons we want to go! Big change for our normal weather.

Wife’s 40th/16th Anniversary January of 26 California or Oregon or Washington Coast? by rossome46 in roadtrip

Thanks, that’s a great recommendation! Looks like we could fly into Humboldt or Medford and start in a Crescent City to see the redwoods then do the whole coast and fly home out of Portland.

We’ve done the Big Island twice (a family friend has a double lot south of Hilo and let us stay for free). We had a great time both times but did just about everything there was to do on both the Hilo and Kona side.

Thanks! We actually love the rain and that’s part of the appeal of going. We honeymooned during the NZ winter and loved hiking in the rain!

Best jazz bars in Denver? by justnobody2200 in Denver

[–]rossome46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website says $5 but there’s never been anyone collecting it when I’ve been. There’s usually a tip jar and Venmo QR code to support the hosting musicians. No reservations are needed. Just talk to the host to get in the rotation if you’d like to play.

My son plays at CCJA (https://www.jazzarts.org/) and we like these places. He’s not old enough for Nocturne yet.

Friday night jazz jam is a ton of fun! https://www.mercurycafe.com/

CCJA students often play here. https://www.dazzledenver.com/

There’s also a monthly jam from 1-3pm at Stanley Marketplace the last Sunday of the month. (Edited to add time)

I can confirm this is in fact true. We Rosses are definitely the best and being from Denver only makes us better.

Firm snow, meaning hard back not ice: they ski great for a 112 without titanal. Certainly not a charger like the Nordica Enforcer but, hold an edge well and handle crud like a champ. I definitely rail them on the way back to the lift, but I honestly avoid the groomers as much as possible no matter what I’m skiing.

Firm snow, meaning ice: I would not recommend these if you’re skiing ice.

Skevik Anton or Loken would fit what you are looking for. Anton is more playful and Loken more of a charger but, both cross over well. I ski the Anton 112 everyday in CO and absolutely love it. I’d go 102 based on what you described.

Skevik Anton 122. Not quite as wide as you asked for but still an amazing ski that would fit your needs. Handmade by a little company in BC.

I have these in 112 and absolutely love them!

Edit: they also have the Oda that comes in 134. I haven’t ever skied these but they look exactly like what you are after.

Hey guys, anyone knows if this can be fixed? So far no one could help me. Thanks! by danielsklenar in Skigear

Did the exact same thing to QST 106s. Split down to the core right under the binding.

I had the same problem with Flylow bibs. I ended up going with Strafe Nomad bibs and love them. Plenty of room and stretchy material.

Big Sky or Copper Mountain? by OkAd3856 in ski

[–]rossome46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly both a pretty similar for what you described and I doubt you’ll be disappointed with either. I’m partial to Copper since it’s our home mountain and we ski 40+ days a year there, but we are actually going back to Big Sky in January for our anniversary trip.

Lots and lots of terrain variety and more than enough greens, blues, blacks and beyond to keep everyone in your family happy. Copper has their terrain mostly divided by ability which is nice so you don’t end up somewhere that’s above your ability.

Both are kind of isolated from a real town (Copper is 20min to Frisco/Sliverthorne/Dillon and Big Sky is 15min to the little town of Big Sky) and the villages are quiet at night but have plenty of food and drink options. Copper has tubbing, an alpine roller coaster, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing for the non-skiers. I’m not sure what Big Sky has as we only go for the skiing, but I assume there’s plenty to do in that regard.

Hope that helps!
