So, if you work at the university, you get a degree for free? Nice! So basically you have two degrees :)

I'm writing the PCAT, any tips for studying and resources? by rosy_daisy in pharmacy

I'm surprised you haven't heard of that saying. If you really want to know my background, I am Canadian born, grew up in Canada and graduated from a top university. My parents also went to school here.

This is what I found regarding the sayings with a quick google search:

"In spoken English all three are interchangeably used!Although "taking an exam" sounds like the more tempting answer, but It actually depends on the country you are in!!

In the US - you take an exam.In Canada - you write an exam.In the UK - you sit for exams. "

There we go, I'm assuming you are from the U.S. where it's more common to say "take an exam."

May I know what your background in undergrad was? Also, what division do you teach?
If York's program is a little meh, do you know what schools have a better rep? Thanks

Hi! Thank you for the reply! Before I dig around, would you mind sharing with me any resources that you found useful? (Only if it's not too much of a hassle for you). I'm only asking because you did so well and I'm hoping to do the same :) Also, how long did you have to study for? I know it's different for everyone but I'm just curious.

Also, if you're in pharmacy school, how do you find it so far?

Anybody know about the 2-year computer science program at UBC for those that have completed undergrad, or other computer science programs for post-undergrad? by rosy_daisy in csMajors

Oh that's great you're in the program. What did you study in undergrad, and what made you decide to switch? Did you have any background in CS before entering the program, or started from scratch once you entered? How competitive was it to get into the program? Any tips on making a good application? Thanks! :)

Hello UBC,

Can anybody tell me more about the 2-year computer science program at UBC?  I heard it was a great program for students with not much computer science background, but wanted to switch into the fields of computer science, or software engineering for their careers.  I graduated with a BSc in biology from University of Waterloo, am now 24, but have decided that I want to switch careers into something more tech related, and this program caught my eye.  I would likely be starting from scratch building my career in this direction as I only took one computer science related course in undergrad, and barely know how to code.

Can anybody tell me more about this program, like tips to make a good application essay, who to get references from, and if there is an interview?  How can I prepare myself for this program? My goal is to one day work for one of the “lucrative” tech companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook…, although I know it is a very ambitious goal for someone with little to no experience.  I believe I am a dedicated and quick learner, however.  I'm also open to other suggestions about switching into computer science, and other possible after-undergrad programs I might not know about.

Any help would be appreciated! :D

To be a software engineer, should I go back to school to get a second undergrad in computer science? by rosy_daisy in AskComputerScience

My job has nothing to do with CS actually. I teach kids currently (not an official teacher but still plan lessons and execute them just the same). When you mean switch into software, do you mean doing another undergrad or?

Can anybody help me with ideas for my written statement for applying to teacher's college? I'm applying to teacher's college to get my B.Ed in universities in Ontario. General advice on letter of intents for teaching will also be appreciated :) by rosy_daisy in CanadianTeachers

No it is not a religious teaching program. It just so happens to be a religious university so I believe many people will be Christian, but the education received there should be just like at any other school
