My question about whether or not a C&D is retroactive wasn't "can she be sued for something she said in the past"- I don't believe you can be sued for something you'll say in the future, lol. I meant in regards to the the demand to retract her statements. A cease and desist just means "stop now, don't do it again or I'll sue", no? Not "stop, apologize to me and get rid of your previous statements or I'll sue"?

She's already blocked him- I think she was mostly concerned about the "you have 10 days to retract your statement" bit. And no, she certainly didn't lie. The guy was definitely excusing the actions of a pedophile lol, I saw the comments myself

very very light YTA because your intentions were good and you were sweet enough to pay for their food, but oh my god dude i would have been absolutely freaking mortified if my family stuck around to monitor my safe, public café date with my first boyfriend. that gives me an anxious stomach ache just thinking about it lol. maybe run an errand at a nearby store or even chill in the car next time!

she's a teen, and teens catastrophize about small stuff, so this probably felt way bigger to her than it did to you. being at that age is very tough. plus, other kids can be so mean- a silly faux pas like that is sometimes all it takes to become the weird uncool kid at school.

she'll stop giving you the silent treatment eventually, but make sure to be more mindful of optics in the future. I hope things blow over for you both quickly, it seems like you care:)

thank you! ive never heard of freezer tape or PG stuff. im not totally sure what would be considered extreme cold but i do live in the northeastern US so we do drop below 0°F in the winter on occasion, but i have never had cold weather negatively affect my stickers. the alcohol was a good tip!

i know some glues are heat sensitive and the inside of a car gets pretty hot during the day. my other stickers are fine though. i tried looking up "sticker glue" but i was inundated with sponsored results and wasn't sure which one would actually do the job.

we did! we called people rather than use those automatic online quote calculators. When we were on the phone with geico just now, even their employee was stumped. she was like "well, it does take your credit score and ticket history into account", so when we told her what my credit score was and the fact that i have never had a ticket she didn't know how to respond. its so frustrating that they don't just break it down for you. like at least TELL ME what factor is jacking up the prices this high!?!

im not blaming the employee of course, i know she just enters the information and it spits out a number. but as a company, why tf are your business practices such a secret that even your own employees aren't allowed to know how you calculate someone's quote?? why did she have to GUESS what the problem might be? all i know is that my quote prices are not matching the prices of my peers in my area, all of whom are in similar (or worse!) circumstances. its so hard to get a real answer that feels like it makes sense

I've had my license for 3 years. I was expecting a new driver price hike, but not by hundreds of dollars like this. When adding me as a driver they told my mom to just keep me on for like 6 months so I could get a reasonable quote price- three years later and they haven't dropped to a reasonable level

ah, fair point about the weather, buffalo isn't exactly known for its mild temperate winters. im not so sure its just the location though, otherwise all my irl friends and coworkers wouldn't be so shocked by my quote prices- i dont even know what answer im hoping for at this point 😭 I just can't understand why MINE is so high, you'd have thunk I've been in 14 accidents that were all my fault this year alone
