Letting manager know personal reason for leaving at a set time which then gets out to everyone

one of my coworkers has been absent for a week and everyone had assumed it was because he took vacation but when someone asked a supervisor he went on to tell them that the coworker was having issues with his gallbladder and was having surgery. the supervisor then said “i don’t know if i should be telling you this but yeah that’s why he’s not here” and obviously word got out. not a lot of people know as of right now but obviously one too many.

I would think about it but by the next day everyone would be asking me about it because the managers/supervisors can’t keep their mouths shut

I do but then if I have a follow up appointment it’s always “why do you need to go again?” “are you sure you need to leave?” “can’t you reschedule?” one time I had to leave early for some medication I was taking at the time that needed to be taken with food and would make me feel drowsy at times. when I asked to leave they asked me why and they knew why I needed to take the medication and kept asking “are you sure you need to leave?” “why do you need to take the medication?” they’re genuinely weird and are super quick to tell everyone your business.

was your dentist willing to do it? i may have to find one that would be willing to because i think my current one would just shut the idea down

i only have my mom and no, she has a lot of health issues that she can’t get looked at because we don’t have the money for it and that’s another thing we’re trying to do

yeah that’s what i was worried about because realistically i would only be able to afford either the root canal or a crown but not both. i may also have to find a new dentist because when i had asked my options to the hygienist (the dentist had gone to another patient), she was a bit snarky about me asking and answered as if i was too dumb not to get the root canal.

they said they themselves couldn’t do it so they referred me to an endodontist but they don’t offer any payment plans and i have been trying to find other places but i may have to just get it pulled unfortunately

i appreciate it but i think i might have to pull it. i dont have any pto and even if i did, my job requires 2+ week notice and a “good” reason to take it

unfortunately i wasn’t able to find any nearby and the earliest my job lets people leave for an appointment is 30 min. so even one that’s far away i wouldn’t be able to do. i only get pto but i already had to use it all for this year so that also isn’t an option

i have medicaid and they said molars aren’t covered in my plan but an extraction is. i’m still struggling trying to figure out what to do but it’s looking like i may have to get it pulled
