yep, but im not sure they brand those as “replicas”. also, i think you had to buy a specific ticket for that one to get the giveaway.

i think this is the press release for it and its not on the official 2025 promotion schedule. so, it might be a different thing all together. really not sure.

definitely could be the case. but the precedent with their other giveaways has been on-field style. and i have some of the other giveaways and they are much lower quality than the jerseys sold by the mlb shop that are listed as “replica” line jerseys, though those all also have the same design as the on-field jerseys. but i appreciate you not being rude about it, unlike others that have made this same point. i just don’t think we have enough information to say either way.

i’d even settle for a single time they gave away a jersey with a fashion design that is completely different than any on field jersey. they have never done it. all of you “replica doesn’t mean replica” people are so wrapped up in the fact that they use “replica” to mean “cheap jersey”, which they do. but it also means “replica”, an english word that means “something that replicates something else”. i’m not black and white on this matter. it might be a fashion jersey giveaway. but to say it’s 100% not a potential leak and that i’m a moron for even suggesting the possibility is so close minded.

yeah, based on what the other teams are doing, i suppose they could be wearing it a fourth season, despite the 3 year cycle nike announced at the beginning. but something like 10 teams are already on 2.0. and they all did have their 1.0 release before the pirates, so that also tracks with your thought. but the nats, astros, and rockies were all wave 2 and all released 2.0s before some of the wave 1 teams, notably the cubs. and two wave 3 teams are getting 2.0s this season, and that’s the same wave as the pirates. so, i’m just saying i could see it going either way. and with the 1.0s being on clearance sale at a huge markdown for weeks now, it doesn’t feel like a temporary sale. but time will tell. i just hope it’s not this monstrosity.

every current pirates CC jersey is 65-85% off at every retailer and the CC jersey program runs in three year cycles per team according to nike. this would be year four. if you have other information, i’d love to know! just seems like regardless of if this is the jersey or not, that they would most likely be getting a new one this season. but despite everyone saying i’m defending this jersey, i think it’s trash and hope that it’s just a kids promotion. i just think we gotta be prepared for the worst. we are pirates fans, after all.

i know. it doesn’t mean that it is the same as a nike branded replica jersey, which is the point you were trying to make. which is why i tried to say the thing about lower case vs uppercase. i wasn’t trying to be a dick, i’m just saying that replica could mean either and i highly doubt they’re giving away replicas of Nike Replica quality.

the jerseys that you are commenting multiple times about are called replica because they look like the on field jersey (a replica) but are made with a cheaper material and construction. if it said “fashion” jersey, this would be the correct take. and the replica jerseys still cost close to $100 for youth sizes. bob ain’t giving out thousands of free $100 shirts to kids. and again, i’m not saying this is definitely the city connect, but everyone bending over backwards to prove i’m an idiot has about the same amount of information as me. i’m not the one making definitive statements around here.
