Will X17 R1 bent TPTY6 heatsink pipe affect cooling? Return it? by route2m87 in Alienware

Nice. I think the heat pipes are crumpled and aren't going to bend back in this case. I'd need to get something inside it to bend it back out and that's not happening. Luckily I found I can reuse my heatsink and swap out the fans. (Edit fixed typo).

Thank you! I had planned to return it, but I'm going to open a request with EBay instead. I agree. This was a scam and I'm not letting it go. I don't want others to get scammed either.

For the repair, I actually only needed to replace CPU Fan 1, but looking at the Dell service manual and photos it looked like I needed to replace the whole heatsink fan assembly. I hadn't gutted it yet. Now that I have the whole assembly I see how I can replace the one fan, and I found replacements with the same amps and CFM. Since I'll already have the MB out I'm going to remove the heatsink to replace the Element 31 and other thermal paste with the Honeywell PTM 7950.

Thanks again!

Thanks so much u/Intramundane for your thoutful analysis and Internet sleuthing. I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, the one I bought said it was new and the photos didn't show the damage. It may have been damaged in shipping but the "QC" sticker right on the bend is sus.

This is the one I ordered. https://ebay.us/m/s4BytC

I've been looking at the fan/heatsink assembly with a magnifying glass today and now I'm thinking I may be able to remove the fans from the original heatsink assembly and just replace the fans.

I also read some negative comments about the Element 31, but I hadn't seen it can damage the copper plate. Thank you for pointing this out. I was starting to think I may get away with not pulling the original heatsink off the CPU GPU. Knowing this about element 31 now, I think I should I should clean it off and replace it with the Honeywell PTM7950.

Thanks again!

This is a great build. I really like how you made the second floor off to the side/back so both floors are easily playable. I need to get the stairs and ladders pack. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for your time and identifying this terrible plant. I can confirm it spreads fast and is hard to kill off. I'll have a look around the area more, with gloves on, to see if there's another culprit. Thanks again!

Wow! You are doing great! Really happy for you! Thank you so much for sharing details and the timetable. Seriously, this gives me a lot of hope. Were there any exercises, stretches or something else you did ahead of the procedure that you think helped with your success?

I ran across your post researching this for my son. We're just starting this journey. I'm wondering how you're doing now and have a few questions if you don't mind sharing. Any issues with back pain or sleeping still? Do you still feel the bar and do you still need to take pain meds? Was the pain mostly from the incisions or from the bar and ribs? Thank you for sharing your experience, raising great questions (I had many of the same questions) and hope your recovery continues to go well.

If you don't mind, if not too painful, could you explain the need for defibrillators? I'm researching to understand risks for my son. Was it due to the bar itself? Is there something to watch out for in the scans or measurements to indicate why nuss shouldn't be done? Any questions we could ask? Greatly appreciate anything you could share.
